So, question for old arcade pros...
How many people here were able to beat the original games on one credit in the arcades? And which? (Capcom or otherwise).

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was easy. Abuse the sewer invulnerability trick and 19 minute game difficulty reset timer.

TMNT 2 was impossible with that horrible artificial 5 minute and 10 second "death bomb" limit. Even with the "invincible" move and a stopwatch, you couldn't react fast enough on the Pirate ship level. And that 5 min/10 sec bomb even appeared in boss fights.

King of Dragons was quite easy.
So was Black Tiger.
Magic Sword was as easy as KoD. But I was the only person in the arcade who could beat it on one quarter.

Gain Ground was more of a shoot em up top down game but I beat that too on one credit (who made this game?).

Simpsons I made it to the last boss but died. Sort of gave up trying but at least it didn't have TMNT 2 shenanigans.

Never really got into Knights of the Round. At least I don't remember if I did. Maybe I did beat this on one credit. Something about that game made me upset.

Wasn't Aliens vs Predator a clone of Final Fight?
Hell weren't most of these games clones of Double Dragon, anyway?

Double Dragon was easy to beat on one credit.

Bonus question:
Was it even POSSIBLE to beat Crime Fighters solo on one quarter?
I believe this game forced you to die even more than Turtles in Time did...

I could only reach Mr. Burns on the Simpsons one time.

Was that the second boss? I honestly forgot. The last time I played that game was 1992 I think.
I remember there was a balloon boss too.
I think for Mr Burns you had to use your special attack at the right time.
The trick to a lot of these bosses was to attack (especially with your special attack) -above- or -below- them at the right frames, so that they 'hit' your attack as they move into you. Never attack them directly on the same plane or you get rekt.

I don't think there was any use for the "spinning" (not the A+B; I think you had to move the stick in a 360 motion?) attack that Bart did. Doing that often got you hit.

I think it was the Krusty giant ballon. Easy. Just go top right of screen and spam special.

I've beaten Metal Slug with one credit.
I don't think Crime FIghters was even possible. Konami loved to ramp up the difficulty on US versions of their games. For the same reason, Dark Adventure is impossible to 1cc, unlike the japanese version, Devil World.

Love the OP's games, and played them as a kid (actually I go back further than that all the way to black and white Asteroids, Wizard of WoR, Joust, Berzerk, and Galaga).

But beating any of those on one quarter? No way, that's crazy. :steamhappy:

I've beat Dariusburst (all routes + ACEX routes QUZ and ORV), Deathsmiles, Mushihimesama (Original, Maniac), and DoDonPachi Resurrection on 1 credit. I didn't do it at an arcade though, I did in on Steam.

Cadillacs and Dinosaurs I beat with every character in 1 credit except Hannah.

Dungeons and Dragons SOM I also beat in 1 credit with every character except the Dwarf.

Final Fight I could 1 credit the game if the dipswitches were set to extend every 200k.

I still want to 1 credit Knights of the Round and AvsP.

Hi I beat Golden Axe many teams (dwarf way). No others, I was really bad in Final Fight. But I will get it and try on PC decades later :)

Use to finish Double Dragon & Golden Axe on a credit every so often between classes at uni. Got pretty far in Warriors of Fate, I might attempt that in this bundle. Too bad the achievements aren't for a single credit.

There are two guys I wanna shout out Murphagator and his 1cc run of crime fighters

and zuq for his nights of the round

But to stay on topic. I did Double Dragon 1 and 2, Pit Fighter and Super Sidekicks 2 1cc. I learned a good strat for the golem boss recently with raph on TMNT too. You can stun lock those bosses by getting on the same horizontal but slightly higher or lower on the Vertical plane and press Up if your above him and smash the attack button and reverse for under him.

I never beaten any arcade games with just one credit. I was not some Arcade god lol.
I remember with the TMNT Turtles in time arcade me and my brother and this other random dude we got to like the pirate ship level and we ran out of tokens/money. We were close to beating it. If we had more tokens/Money then we would have done it.

Thank you for that CC video.
Yeah, the CC in the 7-11 where I played this in Cerritos long ago, was set to a MUCH higher difficulty than this. I remember the health counter dropping significantly faster and you didn't gain as much between levels. I mean I could be remembering it wrong too but this video looks substantially easier than they had it set to.

The guy is really good at the game it says in the description that its 150 restore setting, I belive it is max difficulty though. Speaking of games with death clocks Guardians of the Hood was an awful one for that easly the cheapest coin muncher ever.
