Didn't the vending machines used to make sounds?
As the title says. I remember in the first Bioshock they used to jingle and make sounds when you were nearby and after using them. Oddly enough the gatherers gardens still make noise when I stand near them, along with the medical stations and dispensers, but the clown and ammo ones are dead silent in both cases.

I have read the game has horrbile aduio codding, have any workarounds or fixes been found?

There are some major sound problems happening that werent there the last time i played the game years ago.. i am going through Minervas Den for the first time though so i dont know if the issues are because of the DLC ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ things up or the removal of GFWL.
Sucks.

I've tried two different computers and there is most definitely sound skipping on both. Right at the start of the game if you listen while you walk back in forth in the water, the sound of running water in the background will cut out. This is not the only place however. If there is any degree of hectic combat going on you can hear sound skipping all over the place. It's impossible to play.

It's a bug. Even worse, they said in 2k forums a long time ago that they ain't gonna fix it. This also includes the mute Little Sisters.
I was hoping they'd done some fixes with this Steamworks conversion, but no :(

Even 2k admits they aren't gonna fix the issues, I really don't understand why people keep saying "Thank you so much 2k, you're the best". It's not like they had any choice to get rid of GFWL, it was gonna die in 2014 anyways. If they wouldn't bother getting rid of it and let the game die along with GFWL, they would just have even more pissed off customers. And even if they eventually plan on actually fixing the game, it would have taken them almost 4 years to do so. Judging by the way the game has been ported to PC, by how it took them forever to realize GFWL was going to die and to adapt their game to steam, by still ignoring major issues, I believe 2k doesn't care about this game. They know people don't like them because of that and they're just trying to get less people to hate them but still, what good is free DLC's if the main game can't be played by a lot of people?

In 2K's defence, Microsoft's game update system for GFWL was a hell on earth. The long approval process being just one of the steps. Now that the game uses Steamworks, the updates should be way easier to apply.
