Windows 8 xlive.dll ordinal 42 error message and crash (fix)

I'll keep this simnple. Don't fight this issue of the xlive.dll ordinal 42.
Here's a link that someone graciously put up that is the most up to date
FULL installer. Do not use the web update it wont fix it.

Uninstall GFWL. Do not mess with your game and uninstall.
Reboot then install this and reboot again. This fixed it for me:
