Bioshock 2 + GFWL = game doesn't work
- Uninstalled GFWL and Bioshock 2 off Steam.
- Reinstalled GFWL and Bioshock 2
- Problem still exists

I see some unofficial methods here, but I rather have an "official" solution.
I can't get past "Signing In", it just freezes there.

I contacted support but apparently they don't know what's going on with Steam and Game for Windows Live games. They offered me links but to no avail, they also told me to contact 2k games.

I thought that with Steam achievements, clearly there is someone on the Steam side that knows what the future is for GFWL games, so I was hoping the support team would have some knowledge, but it doesn't seem so.

I guess until 2k or Steam has some news, this game is rendered unplayable, which is a shame.

1.Unistall GFWL from your computer and redownload the latest version here:
http://www.xbox.com/en-US/LIVE/PC/DownloadClient
2.Unistall Bioshock 2 and then reinstall through Steam (Obviously).
3.Download BS2 version 1.5 from here and place it in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\BioShock 2
http://www.fileplanet.com/209922/200000/fileinfo/BioShock-2---Patch-v1.5
4.Install the patch and make sure it installs, when you run the game and get to the menu you should see v1.5 in the lower left hand corner
5.Delete any corrupted saves located in the local BS2 folder on your comp. (Essentially all saves are considered corrupted at this point so just delete the folder)
6.Right click on BS2 in your library, go to properties, set launch options and paste "-dx9" BE SURE TO INCLUDE THE -

I can sign into GFWL but I can't update the game I'm one of the millions of people that can't play this game. Sign into GFWL, says theres an update, downloads, exit the game and immediate failed installed. Download the update right from 2K and again, same issue. It does this both on Steam, and my retail disc so it's deff an issue with bioshock 2 Bioshock 1 and infinite I have zero issues with but bioshock 2? Unplayable. Batmab Arkham City uses GFWL and I do not have any issues saving the game or any issues with that game so it's something bioshock 2.

you have to delete the old saved games remember. That is what through me off. also I found if I did back to back saves too quickly it caused the crash.

Frak GFWL. I have tried all the about suggestions and the game still crashes when I try to log into GFWL.

I'm having the same problem. The cursor shows busy for a few seconds, then nothing else happens.

I had the same problem. Three days to get this thing working,at least the one I bought and paid for. I went to multiplayer and allowed GFWL update, then I checked windows 7 for available updates. I updated the C++ files as well as allowed the critical updates (sorry not sure precisely what they were) tried to run BS 2 in singleplayer and it worked!! I agree that GFWL is just awful, the pirate version only took me a couple of hours once downloaded to work. I totally support the hard working people who make some really awesome games, and will gladly pay for their product, however I will be hesitant in allowing GFWL in getting a nickel out of me in the future. Hope this will help somebody.
