1. Uninstall and reinstall the game on steam.
2. Go here: %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Bioshock2\SaveGames and delete any save
games, they may be corrupted.
3. Update your video drivers.
4. Make sure your system meets the minimum requirements for the game.
If you've tried all the above and it still isn't working, try the following:
If you've tried everything else, and Bioshock 2 crashes yet, try this
I'm running Windows 7 64-bit, go to 'Control Panel', 'Program', 'View installed updates', uninstall the following update:
KB2670838
If you have this installed, right-click on this update in the search results and click on 'Uninstall'.
Bioshock 2 has gone from crashing constantly / Random to run perfect for hours.
I had tried everything else I found on google this problem, changing the ini files etc, etc.
note that you will need to restart Windows after uninstalling this update.
This only seems to apply to windows 7.

Glad to help!
in 4K resolution, go to the launch properties for both games and enter "-dx9", run both games
and change to your desired resolution, exit the game, go back to the launch options and remove
the -dx9, I had to do it this way because both games crashed when I tried changing the resolution without first entering the dx9 option in the launch options.
