Is it possible to get by without harvesting Little Sisters?

I just couldn't bring myself to do it - I know I'm silly - so how to get by without harvesting these Little B****? I heard that later in the game prices for plazmoids drop significatnly but it could be too late to use that discount upgrade. Can you give me tips as to what to do?

You could just rescue them. Whenever you get the chance to harvest or save, press save. You may get a lot less from saving them then harvesting them, but the Little Sister will be cured and will go back to a normal little girl. She'll thank you and crawl back to Tennanbaum (The german scientist girl) through the little hole in the wall the Little sisters come from. And as you continue to save them the cured little sisters will leave gifts for you as you continue through the game. Some gifts have ADAM, or a plasmid, or hell...BOTH! If you don't have the stomach to harvest, (Which trust me, I didn't either. I could never harm a child. Video game or not) just save them. It'll come up next to the harvest button. Becuase trust me. I harvested my first Little Sister in my second playthrough on Xbox (Have PC, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. First played it on Xbox 360.) and I was absoulutely horrified and felt guilty afterwards. Irrantional Games (People who made the game) sure made you regret it when you go to harvest them, that's for damn sure.

It's not silly. I've completed the game like 5 times and never harvested a sister.

You can get by even if you don't gather anything with them. My first time through the game was during Hard difficulty and I only rescued them at the vents after beating a big Daddy. After a while, I could even get by without dying, but that was like the last third of the game. The plasmid combo I used the most was level 3 Decoy & Security bots, that drags fire away from you and gives you some extra damage.

If you're gathering ADAM from corpses, then you can rescue them as much as you like. You will get more than enough ADAM during the game.

NOTE: I played all runs -except my latest- on GfWL and not Steam, which is why I have so little playtime.
