Game freezes every 10 minutes or so and hangs for about a minute.
UPDATE: Possible Fix: Some have indicated that internet connection seems to be playing a role in these random, temporary freezes. Some have had luck disconnecting their internet entirely and playing the game in offline mode. If you are having this issue, I suggest you attempt that to see if it fixes your problem. I will keep this updated with possible fixes as we go along.

Original Post:
Can't seem to figure this out. Anytime I play, every 10 minutes or so, my game will hang up and freeze for a good 45 seconds to a minute, then go right back to being fine for another 10 minutes. Not getting stuttering or framerate issues or anything. This is the only game I have ever had this problem with.

Specs:
CPU - I7 5820k 3.3ghz
GPU - EVGA 2080 TI FTW
16gb Corsair Vengeance 2666hz
Samsung SSD 500gb
LG 1440p 144hz Gsync Monitor

I have tried:
Reinstalling
Reinstalling on different SSD
Verifying files
Adjusting graphics settings up and down
Changing refresh rates on monitor and in game
Changing from Fullscreen/Windowed
Updated drivers
Unistalled and reinstalled drivers
Tried with Vsync on/off
Turned other settings like Ambient Occlusion, Chromatic Abberation, AA, etc on/off
Disabled overlays like Steam and Nvidia
Closed all other applications that weren't necessary
Tried forcing game priority to realtime in task manager
Tried editing pagefile for all hard drives
Turning on/off overclocks for CPU/GPU

Kind of out of ideas here. Every game on my PC runs flawlessly except for this. Freezing would imply throttling, but my CPU and GPU never seem to even break a sweat while playing.

This same issue is also happening to me, hoping to find a solution

Same thing is happening to my girlfriend on her PC right now. She played just fine for hours beating Leon A without issues but now on Claire B the game freezes with music continuing in the background. It happens within minutes of loading her save.

I'm starting to think her save file is somehow corrupted.

After playing for a bit and running into more freezes, I decided to verify my game files with steam and then restarted my computer. I hadn't shut down my computer for a couple of days, and in that time ive updated my graphics drivers as well. I came back to playing the game for a few hours without any freezes, so perhaps a combination of all of that including restarting the computer helped solve the issue.

I thought that too initially. I verified my stuff, restart my computer, and everything worked great for a few hours. I thought I had fixed the issue, but then it started up again out of nowhere.

I'm having the same problem, driving me nuts, just reinstalled steam, the game, did some windows updates I didn't realize were overdue, reinstalled graphics drivers, no joy... Also when I try and use GeForce experience optimized settings everything is tinted pink...

I'm in the same boat as well. I played a good 2 1/2 hours on release with max settings everything running smoothly. Came back the next day and game won't start unless pc is booted up from shutdown. When the game does work it stutters and the game is playable for about 10 mins until it ultimately freezes and I have to force end task. I've reverted back to older drivers thinking that was the problem but still have the same issues. I've been refreshing the tech/help discussion boards hoping for an answer all day yesterday and today. All I wanna do is play :(

I've also noticed it usually happens at times that aren't demanding on the hardware, usually I'm just walking around with no action going on or in a puzzle or menu when it freezes.

Yup, that is when I get it a lot too. When reading notes, doing puzzles, wandering around, etc. Although it CAN happen at any time for me, it happens alot during those times. Even being paused on the menu screen can cause it to happen. Other than the actual freezing, the game runs amazin. Getting generally 144FPS+ on High/Ultra settings with no stuttering. Then freeze, then wait a few minutes, goes back to normal, and just wait until the next freeze.

Oddly, this game is using 99% of my 2080 TI FTW to run. I rarely see a game that utilizes the entire video card, let alone a 2080 TI. I am not even running it at max settings, but it is using up everything my card has, which seems strange, and I am guessing is responsible for the freezing.

EDIT: Turned off a few things and got the card down to about 70% usage at all times. But the freezes still happen. Thought maybe the high usage was causing it, or perhaps some spikes in the usages were causing it, but looks like that theory also failed.

yes same here. Reducing graphics won't help.. it happened with the demo too. It happens a lot while reading notes or getting in a new room after a door. I counted and it freezes for 1 minute and 30 seconds all the times and then you can play again. I'm also on 1440p i5 7400 gtx 1080 16 gb ram. Again frames are not the issue cause i can play with pretty high settings on almost every option and get good count. It happens with every recommended setup in the options. Can also confirm that happens while stalling into the options' screen as well. Played with almost any kind of ambient occlusion from ssao to hdao hbao+ whatever. Turned off other options like shadow cache etc.. still having the issue. Turned down shadow details, played with recommended settings, performance settings... oddly enough the more i turn down settings and get more video ram space the more i get those freezings.. playing in orange video card memory reduced the frequence of the issue a lot but still there. There must be some specific couple of settings that cause the issue on 1440 then. Playing on hardcore mode so no auto saves that might be the reason of the freezings. Also, happening with either direct x 11 or 12 turned on. Blah

intresting idea. saying the auto saves causes freezes cause that very much could be it. I havent thought of that. however im also getting these freezes in the main menu as well and in loading screens and cutscenes. But i do feel if that is the case a patch will come

soon....

yea i don't think it's autosaves, I backed out to the title screen the other day after i got frustrated with the freezing and decided to take a break and eat something, when i came back, it happened to be frozen on the title screen.
Scrocchiarello Jan 28, 2019 @ 9:36am
btw i'm not getting it every 10 mins but totally random.. like i can play for 30 mins and then it blocks lol. I got stuck twice in a row after 1 min earlier so it's totally random here

Yeah it's not every 10 minutes. Sometimes it's within 3 minutes of each other, sometimes it's within 3 hours. But the freeze seems to always last for the same 1 minute ish amount of time.
