RE2 remake is true survival horror
I prefer the dark, atmospheric, foreboding experience of methodically exploring the dilapidated police station and sewers. Are we ever going to get back to that in future RE instalments? Or has the action horror style of the RE4 remake rendered it obsolete?

RE2 is far more credible than RE7 to be honest.

I liked both games, but RE7 is just way too exagerated and cliché sometimes, I liked the Texas Chainsaw Massacre tribute they did with the family, but the ultraviolent torture porn was both forced and unnecessary.

The little-girl-you-see-in-every-modern-japanese-horror-flick was bland too.

RE2 approach is just way more simple, yet visceral. A third of the game is just a tribute to The Terminator chasing you in a police station where everyone's dead, but it doesn't go too far, it's the right spot, they handled the horror really well overall.

I do agree don't get me wrong RE7 was Great but it certaintly is easily outmatched by RE2R i prefer it's story more along with the designs

and theirs more lore to read lol cause n every RE i read all the notes

All this talk of Doom 3 has made me feel nostalgic. I haven't been up front about the fact that I have alot of affection for it, and I do think it's underappreciated, so much that I wish the newer Doom games were more in line with, again, this 'horror' approach.

I'd say we need a Doom 3 remake, but I know that's a bad idea because I prefer the 'minimalistic tech demo' but they would probably elaborate on story and characters which would undermine the core experience.

Here's the thing:
RE2 main game > RE7 main game
RE2 Hardcore < RE7 Madhouse
RE2 DLC <<<<< RE& DLC in terms of creativity

Hop on ModDB and check out the insane overhauls that people have been doing with Doom 3.

I can personally highly recommend these two:
1) Perfected Doom 3 - it's a balls to the walls version with overpowered demons AND overpowered you. Lots more variety, and weapons all have creative alternative fire modes. Heck you can use the Soul Cube to summon a HellKnight to your aid. It's nuts. Plus it features additional Hell levels and a new bossfight.

2) Overthinked Doom 3 - it's pretty much a tactical rework of D3. New gunplay, MUCH scarcer ammo, and you need to be much slower and more methodical with your approach.

These are guaranteed to breathe new life into the game in addition to the various lighting and texture reworks.

lmao. Man, did you played the original RE1? That's the only real survivor horror game. Even original RE2, RE3 are close to shooters
You must have played some weird shooters my friend

Oh interesting. I'll consider it, thanks for the recommendation.

Action games are everywhere. I don't know why Resident Evil needs to be that.
Sounds like somebody kept dying to the chainsaw

My friend you have played some weird survival games.

Anyone who want to argue, please, go on Wikipedia and read about the term "Survival Horror', then come back here with your new thoughts :)
I've been playing survival horror games since before Wikipedia and people trying to be smug about a game having slightly more action than the previous one.

^_^ It's your opinion. Starting since RE2R, it's 100% shooter game _with_ survival horror elements. Original RE1 does not have such amount of PRECISE shooting in legs, in heads, in groin, you name it. The situation was better in original RE4, where FOV was so small that you have to do more actions to point crosshair, especially considering the amount of enemies around. And now, there is a new league of players who never seen Alone in the Dark, neither original RE1 and they call remakes as "true survival horrors". LMAO. That's all.
How does positional aiming take away from survival horror? It's complimentary, not mutually exclusive

So... RE4, 5, 6, Revelations 1 and Revelations 2 don't exist?
