2 Hours in the Game ... Where's the fun? ... Need Help
Wow, I started the game in normal difficulty because I played many RE-Games in past. But this time I think this is far to difficult for me.
Every Zombi is a bullet-sponge. I don't realize when I can run past of them. One time they are incredible slow, when I start to run they are super-fast. I'm really scary about what to com ... I know there are enemys VERY MORE DANGEROUS. Will I have a chance to survice in "normal" difficulty when I have problems so early in the game?

I could handle with that, but after finding two of the three medaillions I don't have ANY idea what to do next. I visited every area I can access at least three times without finding something usefull.
I don't know how to turn the steam of ... i don't know how to arm the explosives ... i don't know how to get to that door in the libary (i moved the bookshell but Leon doesn't like to jump over that 20 inch gap ... OMG)

Right now this game doesn't make ANY fun for me.
But all of you like this ... all reviews are so good. So please help me, what am I doing wrong? What is so different to other RE-Games. I never had that kind of problems. At least I always had an Idea what to do next. Here I'm completly LOST. I could read a walkthroug, of course. But that's someting I try to avoid because I always read to much.

Should have wrote that earlier. I just found the wheel for that steam.
But I still don't know if I should continue in "normal". Is it normal to have such great problems with simple zombies? Will I get stuck later?

It's Resident Evil, so you should expect to keep different saves and go back in case you spend too much of your resources. The game isn't easy the first time, don't be ashamed to start in the lowest difficulty. The game is worth the learning curve til you drop your S rank in Hardcore like a cakewalk.

Looks like weird claim, so I rather keep it short and basic.
Shoot the leg - 3, 4 shots tops and zombies are on the ground, slow as hell. If you want to kill them, knife them to death.

Thanks so far.

I tried that, but the knife is broken. I think I‘ll restart in easy. I don‘t like that bullet-sponge zombies. In the past you could kill them pretty fast by shooting the head (except those Las Plaguas-Guys where you need a flash-bang afterwards)

I don‘t get why I need 18 shots just to destroy the brain. Bad design IMHO …

Btw: Where can I find the combinations for safe an locks? I opened Leons desk (nice little riddle) but any other lock I don‘t find any clue or number to use … I wasn‘t in every room though. There are Walkthroughs simply listing all codes … I don‘t want to use that.

You'll find the codes in other rooms if you're thorough, dont worry

I would recommend you to knee-cap the zombies and just go past them. You can critically damage their heads with head blow. But this game is not for that type of gameplay.

Re-think your strategies.

1. Dodge zombies. shoot their legs to stunt them and go by them.
2. Only clear those who are in tight corridors,
3. Destroy their legs. Make them slower.
4. They can't open doors without legs.

THIS is survival Horror.

Just like...in all the Resident Evil games, you mean? Unless you mean you only played the "Gun Survivor" series of games when you said you "played many RE games in the past".

Also, you only have the starting pistol, which is of course very weak. Play more of the game and you'll get more powerful weapons.

OP, don't shoot the zombies for the kill. Shoot for the stagger and run past them. Stagger can be achieved by shooting the head or the legs.

You can also shoot the legs off, or cut them off with a knife when a zombie is down. That way they become much slower. Also you can shoot/cut off the arms so you're harder to grab.

Though every RE game share the same fundamental elements and basics, they differ in terms of gameplay to keep the experience fresh. RE2 is slower paced and more realistic, while RE3 is more action oriented with dodge mechanic and abundant ammo. RE4 is a perfect balance in between, that's why it is considered the best. RE7 and RE8 are different stories, but I can say that they also manage to keep the balance, especially RE7 is one of my favorite RE games of all time. I understand that puzzles can be frustrating, because I thought the same every time I played RE2. There are many times that puzzles feel excessive and might actually cause you to spend hours circling around. That's why RE2 and RE8 (Village) are the ones that I particularly don't like a lot. RE4 and RE7 remain as my favorite ones. Nonetheless, I must say I like how they implemented the gore and blood effects better than any game in series so far in RE2.

I just on my second play-thought (only did Clair A yet), but In addition to all other useful suggestions:

If you has more healing items and scarce on ammo (which was my common state), it might make sense to risk being bitten, but conserve bullets.
Also inactive zombies much less likely if you walk at a distance, rather than run. Lickers are completely blind and can't find you if you walk unless you right near them.
And don't forget to bar windows, for me, zombies tend to overrun areas which are not blocked.

PS. you will find combinations eventually, there are codes for all safes and hints for locks.
