To anyone who wants to revert their game to have raytracing again. Make a shortcut to steam.exe then add -console to the shortcut path for most people it would be this "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steam.exe" -console
make sure you close out of steam completely then use the shortcut to open steam. Next to your username you should see console. Click on that, then enter "download_depot 883710 883715 4596656973454619188" but without the parenthesis. that will download the game as it was and after some time in the console it will say it was downloaded somewhere like "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\content\app_883710\depot_883715" Now delete or backup the contents of your Resident Evil 2 folder, do not change the folder name or location just empty it out then copy the contents from your new download and you are golden. If you did the hd mod then you will have to reapply it but doing this will be like steam never did the update even the steam still thinks it's still the new update so it's not gonna force it again.

For RE3 do the same thing but instead enter "download_depot 952060 952062 7305189131432908184" into the console. Once again without parenthesis.

i came here to post my annoyance that the RTX option is gone now! WTF CAPCOM.

this is a pet peeve but can we stop calling ray tracing "RTX". that's an Nvidia brand name. it means nothing.

RT looked like garbo in those games anyway especially in 7
idk re3 reflections were pretty good. For example tiles on metro station walls would reflect jill model and enviroment around it.
for re2 we can rollback version in steam console using this comand: "download_depot 883710 883715 4596656973454619188"

u can follow tgis guide https://www.makeuseof.com/how-to-downgrade-steam-games/

before replace all files in the game folder, delete all inside.
after replace all files, open the game and close again.
to get all constumes again, deselect and reselect all additional content

don't forget to turn off updates

to open steam console click windows+R and type steam://open/console
Hopefully they'll roll this back on the main branch soon.

No part of this makes sense to do and it screams someone pushing a beta out that shouldn't have been pushed out.
I just installed the game and I was searching for the missing RT options. Then I thought, "alright, I have to tweak some config files..." but I never thought the game was broken because of the latest patch.

Just 5 minutes of testing. God know what else is there.

Note that the cop still have his head but it's invisible. If you crit the head comes back
Absolute clowns lmao and people wonder why I always advocate backing up their game's entire install folder before these new patches get pushed and ruin the game. Unbelievable how incompetent these devs are today.

Backing up? How would you launch it without steam forcing the update?

How do you turn off updates? Mine haven't downloaded yet but are scheduled.
By moving the game to a different folder and making a steam_appid.txt in the install folder with the game id number in it.

Works for any steam game.
Found a method where backing up the old folder, updating, then deleting the newly updated game folder and replacing it with the old one does the trick.

Here's what you do when a new patch is coming that is a stinker and you haven't taken the update yet:

1) Copy and paste the entire game installation folder someplace else, like a different HDD or something
2) Allow Steam to update the game installation
3) Delete the entire game install folder, the one that just got updated
4) Copy the backed up old version to its old place, do NOT cut and move, as you need to keep this backup elsewhere in case of future bad updates
5) Play the game

At some point Steam might notice the version mismatch. But I confirmed at least back when this DX12 branch was pushed live, before the DX11 beta branch was available, that doing this worked to allow me to play the old version. The same should happen with the original DX12 version.

Alternatively you can use the manifest download method above but its much more complicated and I strongly suspect Valve will close off the ability to do this in the future unfortunately. Just further proving the importance of making backups of known good game installations.

\*Edit - lol I see you replied that you figured it out while I was typing that up. Enjoy.
