I was blown away when I saw an article about this early. I remember the concept video of it years ago, but I didn't think it was actually possible. Makes me think that maybe RE3 could have a version of this. But here's a crazy idea, what about RE8? I'm actually a huge fan of how RE7 and 8 are first person, but I never touched RE8's over the shoulder. But what about RE8 as fixed camera game?

Interesting. How's the performance on low end PC or laptop? I suppose fixed camera makes it less demanding on graphics, no?
It's not really all that playable. It's only going to be for the most diehard fans. It's not made for this mode, and you'll feel it. lol

This is by far the best mod for RE2. The closest we'll ever get to classic RE and the Gamecube REmake.

You need to fiddle a bit with the settings, but it's totally playable especially if you have experience with the classic RE games tank controls. There many control options, but anything other than tank gets confusing as hell to me, especially in close quarters.

Changing the sound to "camera spatial audio" is a must, or else you hear from the character's head and not your own viewpoint.

You can also instantly toggle between the mod and regular game by pressing T.

It seems crazy how Capcom didn't even implement this while it was so obviously doable in the RE engine. A single guy did it almost perfectly.
I mean, some of those angles, though exactly what we've been missing, aren't really geared to be fighting from, like the classics that were made for it. The maker did bend over backwards to make the controls to be the best they could be with locking to different body parts, but the controls also offer none of the precision for the original Re2r controls. They are floaty, and when changing screens, it's not as natural as the classic tank controls were. The perspectives were great for play and for confrontation in the past, but this time, not so much. We all want Re2r to be more than it was, but let's be honest. It's a novelty at best.

Okay but not asking too much, did modder add alternate controls like in REmake and Zero?

Of course it won't fit perfectly. I understand your sentiments. Same feels when I watched the gameplay. It feels a little bit off. It reminds me of my cute female officemate (which is happened to be my crush, and god I missed her), who tried to dressed like she is in the 60s but we are living in 22nd century. She is cute but doesn't fit her perfectly.

Sure looks gorgeous, though. :( It's nice to see Re2r, which I also love, in the frame of the original. I'll be sure to try it out, for better or worse. lol
