Also, ♥♥♥♥ upscaling. It's godawful and there's almost no chance capcom still has the original source assets to work from.
Anyway is not that hard the company still having the assets. The same was tell about Square around Final Fantasy IX/Chrono Cross for years and now we have at least a minimal decent port.
Make a upscale today is not impossible due have some tools to extract files from discs and the AI learning machines.
Yeah, I'm a fool waiting for a good product.
I already know about this project and is impressive how fans can do what a big company can't. (or just not want)
This project is a perfect example that old games can get a full modern experience. Unfortunately it all depends on the company.
This is the PC version, I streamed it a while back for the first time in a lot of years.
S rank.

I never played RE classics PC version but the 3D textures on this title is already great in this version. The pre-rendered background a little more definition to look less pixelated should be enough for a classic-modern experience and the door skip works well.
This is a thing that prove Capcom can do a fair quality collection. Maybe in 2025/2027 when already have the RE6 remake...
Unfortunalety a collection like Mega Man franchise Legacy is a poor way to give fans a farewell to original content and at same time even with a lazy work RE classic games could be a great deal to profit if adding some new simple features.
The last time where a fangame based on original content had a near 1:1 remake/remaster experience Capcom just forced the project to take down. (hello Nintendo)
Anyway Capcom couldn't let the classic games get in limbo without a last product to remind why these games was fantastic for franchise history.
I think in this way only textures from original RE1 is that bad while RE2 and RE3 look a sweet spot (at least for the Playstation age), but for a re-release the RE1 2002 style is really perfect.
In RE1 2002 the characters interact with the environment mainly the shadows so even if do better textures this can to be or not a good thing without the same interaction.
Will be funny see how the developers can works on these experimental changes. (in a hypothetical way of course
