City of the Dead mod
... anybody try it out? Any thoughts? I'm in the middle of a playthrough and it's really given the game new life to me. I highly recommend trying it out to anyone who wants a more challenging experience. Feels like a proper remix and doesn't break the spirit of the game (at least up until this point and there's 2 tyrants after my butt XD).

Never tried it but I think I'd like to. Will look into it tonight. Thank you for the suggestion. ♥️

Omg this mod looks incredible. It's exactly what I've been looking for and some of the item shifting and map expansion really will give me another few hundred hours of play. My heart really remained in Raccoon City when the series moved on, and the more time I can spend in this game, the better. 😍

It's really hard. I'm struggling to get through Ada's section at the moment.

What changes does it make to the game? Does it add the fixed camera angles and tank controls? If so, then I will absolutely play it.
Narrowmind Dec 10, 2024 @ 12:42pm
You won't absolutely be playing it. The mod that added the changes you suggested already was barely playable as it was. lol The game wasn't made for the traditional mechanics, and the mod was a novelty at best.

Actually, it's been well documented that the game was originally going to be fixed angles like the game it's based on, but towards the end, they changed it because they felt that it was going to be jarring to the more modern players. I really enjoyed the fixed camera era of RE, so if I could play the remake that way neat, if not, no big deal. :)

I have nothing against the fixed camera. I just recognize the the mod using it wasn't made for the gameplay featured in this game. That's all. Wouldn't mind seeing another one like it, but it needs to be designed to use the perspective.

Source needed on that.

https://www.siliconera.com/re2-remake-originally-had-a-fixed-camera-perspective-mode-switchable-anytime/ The bottom of the article links to a video that is by the official biohazard page on youtube. The OG game did have fixed angles, so it would stand to reason the remake would as well.

You apparently didn't read too closely.
Resident Evil 2 originally had a fixed camera mode like the original game, that could be switched whenever the player wanted to. It was supposed to be a selling point, but after seeing how well the other aspects of the game were made, they felt they didn’t need to add the feature anymore as a selling point.
That does not say "it was originally going to be fixed angles". It says it was a switchable option.

The game was always designed around the third person camera like every game since 4 not counting 7.
