RE2 Remake MODS
Does anyone know any method to install mods? I've tried several mods, none of them work.

Put the library folder and save data folder in the new steam install folder.

Try to run a game you had installed previously and steam will detect it being there already instead of re-downloading.

Should solve the issue and other similar issues with file access.

Valve really needs to change the damn default install location already.

try switching to dx11 no rt mode in the betas section when you right click the game on steam

I already tried, it won't work either

Did you use FluffyMod Manager from Nexus? I don't know if the DRM patch destroyed it or not.

Be sure the mods are for the correct version of the game as the old non-rt build and current build use different file formats and directory structures within the packed files.

Also be sure you click the re-read game archives button in fluffy manager if you've changed builds.

There was no "drm patch" for RE2.

I know the fluffy manager and chose the exact game directory, the mods simply don't work. I've already tried the non-rt version and the normal version and nothing, I think this DRM thing totally ruined the game's modification.

There.

Was.

No.

DRM.

Patch.

Jesus christ. This isn't complicated.

so because none of the mods work, I literally saw all the tutorials on how to use mods in this game, I tried installing them manually, switching from version to version, nothing works and when I go to the game reviews, it talks about this DRM thing or whatever ♥♥♥♥ is this

Because it was added to resident evil: revelations and people were review bombing other RE games.

It was NOT added to RE2.

Do you have the game installed in the program files(x86) folder?

It's probably just fluffy manager not being able to properly access the game files because of windows perrmissions.

Stop installing steam and games in program files(x86).

How do I change where the game is downloaded? I only have an SSD in my PC and nothing else.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

The current solution is actually the best.

If the user doesn't care where their games are installed Steam will just suggest/use it's own folder in program files: there it can do and undo without pestering the user.

If the user wants to be concerned where their games are installed Steam supports creating any number of libraries wherever it's told to do so by the user.

This problem exists because neither Valve, Microsoft or any game dev does care what an end user doing UNSUPPORTED things is running into. It's the same story about installing a 3rd party shell extension and then blaming Microsoft(cuz Windows Update) because explorer.exe is crashing: you're doing UNSUPPORTED things.

In the enterprise world UNSUPPORTED is a shorthand for you take care of whatever issues arise with your actions.

That said your solution is the best: if using software for games that's outside of Steam's support is better to tell Steam to create a library outside of folders in Windows that have special protection against modifications(C:\, C:\Program Files\, C:\Program Files(x86), C:\Windows). Make another partition and put the games in fashion:

D:\Games\Steam\
D:\Games\Epic\
D:\Games\AnotherGameClientApp\

Not entirely accurate.

There are games that will have issues simply existing in that folder these days, even without modding. Horizon Zero Dawn is notorious for it.

Just... don't install anything in program files or program files(x86) unless you have to.

And this is just flat out wrong. The best solution would be valve and other developers changing the default install location so this crap stops happening.

I'm going to consider the answer about installing the game outside of x86 as an answer to this topic, I haven't tested it yet because I'm going to have to uninstall a lot of things to test, so that's it, thanks for the help, when I get RE2 Remake to platinum, I'll test it.
