Help with getting ATM-4 RL

So i want to get infinite rocket launcher, but i dont quite understand one thing. Am i allowed to die no more than 3 times? or i can die as much as i want but with only 3 saves?

You can die as much as you want. Only X saves is a way to restrict the number of checkpoints you can set in a playthrough just in case you die or want to repeat a section doing variations to see if you can reduce playtime.

Continue from the death screen is a trade-off: playtime is kept and adaptive difficulty counts that death.

Quitting to the main menu and loading the save: playtime and adaptive difficulty as it was when the save was created.
