How the heck are people completing this game in 5-6 hours only?

I just read on HowLongtoBeat that this game should apparently take ~8hours to complete.
How do people do this so fast? I'm playing as Leon and still halfway in the police station section, right after meeting mr X. Playtime at 6 hours already. And this is me using the IGN walkthrough 100% all the way.

I find it hard to believe people can just play blindly and yet the beat the game so fast. How do they do it...?

I guess eight hours is for "game-journalists." Or do you mean pass the company in 5 hours and pass it in 2 to rank S+. Technically, it's impossible to pass this game 100% in 8 hours.

This game is one of those people beat several times. I've beat it over 10 times. 5-6 hours was not on normal first playthrough. By now people are speed running it.

the game takes like 2 and a half hours to beat. but still even on a casual playthrough its easy to be under 8 hours on your fist try. re games are short and people were accidentally beating re3re on their first playtrough

Considering to unlock everything in the game you have to beat it on hardcore in under 2 to 2 1/2 hours depending on route while only saving a maximum of three times? 5-6 hours is slow, my dude.

the average person would probably only do leon and clairs normal mode that would on average only take 6 or less hours for each, id expect the average playtime to be under 20 minutes. I only have 40 hours because I replayed the game like 4-6 times and yted the extra modes. and it wasnt till now I relized I didnt get the achievements for hardcore mode, when I 100% know I did clairs at least

Speed runners. I like to take my time with games but there are some people who will speed through them to get speed run records.

Once you know the locations of every item, which windows to board up, and optimised routes, you can beat it very quickly.

Original could also be beaten in under 2 hours per scenario. But whatever, take as much time as you need. It took me like 10 hours in total. Give or take.

I have played through it dozens of times and have gotten S+ Ranks with both Claire and Leon. it just takes practice.

I also used alot of Carcinogen's strategies which helped me get those ranks.

CarcinogenSDA he's one of my favorite YouTubers that has done a lot of videos on how to complete resident evil games no damage and with the best rank. I used his strats to get S+.

5 - 6 hours too much btw. I can finish at 2 hour 15 min and sometimes 1 hour 30 min depending on difficulty and hardcore

It is possible to finish RE2 in 6 hours. I did it with Claire, and I finished Leon's campaign in 7h and it was my first time playing it. Just play the game and you'll memorize levels and other stuff and you'll beat it even faster.

This version of RE2 could be beaten easily in less time, the maps are smaller, the indicators for items are obvious, it's just faster.
