Leon was supposed to clear up RPD and get rid of a Tyrant while Claire was basically running around aimlessly since CHRIS is NOWHERE TO BE FOUND so she made up for it by saving some random girl.

Funny since there's evidence in other games that events from Claire A is canon. You can argue all you want but this seems to be just hating on Claire rather than trying to discuss canon it's actually possible that both routes are canon much like with original Resident Evil events of both characters story were supposed to be canon. This entire topic especially remarking on oh no a girl can't kill the monsters is clear you're just sexist and think only a man can do all this.

Claire can do whatever the ♥♥♥♥ she wants, kill entire RPD, Mutilate Birkin, Cure Sherry, Grab a giant MINIGUN - sure, whatever, its a game and I like it

All IM saying is - Marvin. Gave. Leon. A KNIFE. Not to Claire. Oh no, that scene between Marvin and Claire is hella awkward. He gave it to Leon and this Knife - is still with him in RE4RE - Capcom may did this accidentally or kinda forgot but since the same team was working on the both games - I think its safe to assume. Leon was first, Claire did the rest - and thats Canon.

As for RE3RE - are we still pretending this game exists over OG RE3?

I'm unclear about op's issue. Is he debating canon? Or is he debating Claire's relevance to the story? Because those are 2 different discussions. I might agree that Leon A + Claire B is canon, but I fail to see how this diminishes Claire's relevance. And why is he writing this message in "CAPS". Does it strengthen his argument? Or does he just 'feel' strongly about it for some reason? If so, why? Or maybe he's a troll? All of the above?

Claire's Gatling gun fight at the end is probably my favourite part of the entire game. It's cathartic after all the oppressive survival elements. I also think Claire is adorable and lovable, and I doubt I'm the only person to say that. "More Claire" was never a bad thing, but Leon's awesome too. Great roster of cute and likeable characters!

Old canon was that Claire A was canon. Since Leon A was most selected in the remake, they may have changed that. These things happen. Back to KotakuInAction, better luck next time

I do actually agree with this. In both Claire A & B, her role is the same. She shows up looking for Chris, discovers right away that he's in Europe, and spends the rest of the game meandering through the campaign and baby sitting some random kid. The chief that kidnaps Sherry is an evil caricature villain that adds nothing of value to the setting, gameplay, or story. None of that made any sense to me.

I think Capcom screwed the pooch on Claire's story and it was kind of lame. It didn't diminish my experience as it wasn't the only goofy moment in the game. But Leon's a cop so it's his job to enforce order in a chaotic environment, whereas Claire is just a tourist who has no rhyme, reason, or excuse for being there apart from being a pretty and likeable girl.

There's mentions of events of Claire A run in Resident Evil Revelations 2 I believe and Sherry being infected only occurs in that combination which goes to Resident Evil 6. So if anything there's more evidence that Claire A is canon.

I think we can all agree that they (Capcom) rebooted the whole franchise.
Since Remakes overwrite all of that from the OG games and people just cant talk random stuff whilst relying on old games. So duh, Sherry may have escaped the infection in the OG but in the Remakes - she gets infected in both routes. Mostly because Capcom at the time wasnt expecting to include Sherry or any G mentions in the future titles
