Frame stuttering at all times
My PC specs:
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6600 8 GB VRAM
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 8 cores 16 threads
RAM: 32 GB
1440p 60hz DirectX12 Windows 11 64-bit

I'm experiencing stuttering at all times, even in the title screen. The frame drops are so fast, and I don't think that all my FPS trackers are capturing the correct FPS when they drop. AMD Adrenalin says my average FPS is 214.6 FPS. However, the stuttering is constant and I can't get past the very beginning gas station sequence without wanting to just turn the game off.

It's a shame because I played the game when it released on PS4 and I love it. Too bad the optimization is ♥♥♥♥.

I'll record a clip right now and post a link in the comments. I hope I can get it to run because I want to play the game through again but if I can't fix the stuttering, I'm going to have to get a refund.

Okay so I fixed it lol.

The problem was DirectX12. Apparently it runs terribly on DirectX12. You have to switch back to DirectX11 to get rid of any stuttering

1. Right click on Resident Evil 2 in the Steam library
2. Click "Properties"
3. Open the "Betas" menu
4. In the drop down menu, select "dx11_non-rt - dx11_non-rt"
5. Launch game
6. Go to options > graphics and change "Graphics API" to "DirectX 11"
7. Restart game
8. ???
9. Profit

Unfortunately all the games made for DX11 run poorly on DX12, too bad because the RT fix the broken Screen space reflections.

11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-11700F RTX 3080 16 GB RAM all RE Engine RE games 2-4 remake 7-village stutter even with ray tracing off or shadow cache on or off will try DX 11 thanks for the tip :re2umbrella:
