RE2 Remake HDR, just not my thing
Tried HDR for the first time, and, well, in my opinion it doesn't look good. Everything is so washed out, and just normal brightness to me looks more natural. I did hear that you have to do some sort of Monitor settings trick to make it look vibrant, but you have to do this every time you start playing, which I thought is a huge waste of time making the game look better, than it already is.

You didn’t tune it right it shouldn’t look washed out at all.

Windows does Hdr in games weird, u should enable hdr in windows first as well before launching the game so the game apply it correctly it also depends on how you tuned it and your display. But i tested it and it seems to apply correctly for me just i never use it either but it will be washed out when you just in windows then enable it throught the game and it shouldnt be washed out all you gotta do is tune it

Yeah, I changed how much screen looks and everything, the game with HDR still looks super washed out... I dunno, just looks horrible. I turned it back off, I'm sticking with regular. People said HDR was supposed to make the game look more alive, but not for me it don't.

It doesn't work right.
When I played the game last year it was vibrant, dark, light sources were bright.
now it is washed out and absolutely not working. The game switches my tv to HDR mode but the game itself is not in HDR.
I have rtss set up to show if hdr is enabled and it does not engage.
Something is broken.

believe me. When it works, the HDR is fantastic in RE games. But this is so strange.... I already had it working on this version of the game. I am playing on oled

I had the same exact problem. It was Windows Auto HDR that caused it. Turn of windows auto HDR and then turn HDR on in the game and you will have darker environments, but more vibrant colors like it is supposed to be. Winodws Auto HDR for some reason must be adding some second layer to it and really destroys the picture quality.

I wasn't even using auto HDR, game looks like trash even with it off on windows, vs on in game.

I have the same problem with it looking washed out and it is the reason why I am here in the discussion forum.

unplugging 2nd monitor before launching game fixes it for me, you can re-plug it in again after you edit HDR settings and begin playing.

let me know if that works for you.

Sorry that wasn't the solution for you. I do know what you are talking about and the HDR really looked terrible for me before. Hope you find another solution because the game looks great when it's working right.

Honestly I've tried with several different GPUs and different monitors and every single RE engine game (7, village RE2R, RE3R) looks bad with HDR turned on.

Also depends on the monitor of course. With my edge-lit LG Ultragear i'm not even trying to use HDR in games because it looks like crap. On a properly configured (and expensive] full-array screen HDR should look great.

Turn Auto HDR off in Windows, that fixed it for me!
