Error 266 Fatal D3D Error

I updated the game, because I do have a Direct X12 card (I could play the game on DX12 before, it was just worse performance wise than 11), and now I can't launch the game (same error with 3 and 7).

My card is a 1050ti running from a laptop.
I could play the game 99% stutter free before and now I can't even play it. Anyone knows if there's a fix for something like this or am I screwed (which means having to wait for Capcom good will, which is not a good thing).

The fatal error seems to mean you need to turn settings down because the game is going over on vram usage.

Thanks for the quick reply. Well, I tried changing some things using the config.ini but no luck. =(

Try deleting your config file entirely. Might get it to auto-detect things to a lower setting.

Turn on FSR, I get the fatal error on a 2080TI FE with FSR off.

I think it needs a hotfix personally

lots of stuff is broken with this patch, I would verify files in your case though.

I'm assuming it's this setting in the config, no idea what you should set it to though.

FSR is an upscaling tech, It should be in the graphics menu if you scroll down a bit.

Enable FSR and then load into a save and you should find it runs much smoother, I dont get crashes with FSR enabled at 4K

I don't think it's shown in the .ini

Delete re2_config.ini from the game directory but DO NOT delete re2_config_default.ini

Then relaunch the game, the defaults will be loaded and you should then be able to get back into the game.

For safety's sake, Make a backup of re2_config.ini first to your documents folder or somewhere you can easily get access to it.

i have a feeling the configs don't function like they used to, I renamed both mine and restarted the game and it retained my settings and the new config it generated has barely anything in it

I second on this, 1050ti mobile is weaker than 960 desktop version. You're running lower than current update minimum requirement. You might need to try lowering your resolution but within game support resolution and reduce some background app consumption might help. Updating your graphic card from NVIDIA main site also might help. (Be sure to backup cause this is a laptop)

In worst case, you might even need to fetch driver from your manufacture's laptop brand instead if the official NVIDIA site doesn't work that is. Or you cannot roll back to previous driver. So better keep it downloaded on hand.

Newer drivers usually don't work with my laptop. I had to keep the older ones like you said (when Winupdate try to make my life harder, for example).

It seems like unless I'm doing something wrong, I'll be on Capcom hands which is SAD because they don't care about PC gamers at all.

I solved it by disabling the virtual resolution scale
