Should i install the dx11_non-rt version to use mods?
I just bought the game and i want to play it with mods, i've read that the RT version of the game doesn't let you use mods, can i use them with this ''dx11_non-rt'' version?

You can, yes.

You can use some with the dx12 version, though. The modding tools have been updated. It's just on the modders to update the mods themselves.

I've read that the DX12 + RT version is poop, though. Which one would you recommend to a new player?

I've had no issues with the ray traced version since I turned off shadow cache and turned on interlacing.

If you've got the hardware power for it and feel like taking the time to tweak settings for a stable frame rate, I'd say go for RT.

The reflections in the original version were a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ eyesore that never should have made it past beta.

I use first person mod and stuff so i have to revert back. It's really up to you and how many/which mods you want to have access to.

yes I went back to dx11_non-rt version since the newer one doesn't support the mods

Mods are compatible with the RT version but they need updating by the authors for the new patch, only a few have been done so far. If you really want to use mods then use DX11 but I would recommend for a first time player to play without.

If you have a decent RTX card then the ray tracing looks nice, but is is resource intensive.

Stick to the dx11 version, even with RT (which is shockingly poor) it's the vastly superior version.

Yes absolutely go back to DX11. Don't believe anyone who tells you to use the garbage new update, it runs objectively worse than DX11 using the exact same settings: https://www.eurogamer.net/digitalfoundry-2022-resident-evils-new-pc-patches-hit-performance-hard-and-compromise-visuals

it always ran worse in dx12 vs 11 even before it was updated.

I just use dx11 cuz ray tracing isn't anything amazing tbh.
