Game crashing when I try to save at typewriter?

So when I got through the very first part as Leon, the game crashed when I tried to save at a Type Writer. It runs quite well otherwise, with the occasional stutter. But I haven't had this problem before. No mods are installed

Must be CPU-related issue.

I would hope not :( I have an Intel i5 7600kl, and it said I would be able to run it well on medium to high settings

Something similar or perhaps the same happened with me as well. Crashed on bringing up the typewriter and certain other menus. Mine was immediately solved by switching DX from 11 to 12.

Yup. What DonIVI, said. I had the problem. Switching to DX12 fixed the issue.
Never had it in the past, so I'm not sure what was going on.

I dont want to sound stupid, but do you guys know how to switch between the two? I've tried looking up a tutorial but I cant seem to find one

Options > Graphics > Graphics API: DirectX 12
