Speak for youreself please.
So the definition in youre case for "true fan" is someone that shares youre opinion ? XD
It's quite senseless, it's the same as saying if you prefer Devil May Cry 3 combat over the original Devil May Cry because you can switch styles and have more than 10x the combo possibilities, you're not a true DMC fan.
RE didn't die with RE4, it changed by ditching an outdated formula which the devs knew had to go in order to progress and influenced how the next generation of horror/survival games played, such as Dead Space and Alan Wake.
You may prefer the original's style of gameplay, either it being for nostalgia or the unique mood it gives, but that doesn't make you a true fan when compared to others who don't share the same views.
The RE1 remake is largely different from the original. It includes new characters, new enemies, new locations and new puzzles just like the RE2 remake is doing.
No you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ don't. I've been with the series since RE2 and I am looking foward to thsi new take on it while I pretty much hate RE6. Your opinion is not a benchmark for what a true fan is.
I understand that the new camera makes the game feel less like the original; which i think is the main problem with the game in general...
HOWEVER
That doesn't mean the game is bad; not at all. Do i still feel spooked by this game? Yes. Do the environments make me feel nostaligic? Yes. Does the fact that the camera isn't fixed make it less nostalgic? Yes.
People who were looking for that nostalgic fix aren't going to get a full injection. But the old game wasn't exactly perfect to begin with. It was good, don't get me wrong; better than the first i think.. But the voice acting was pretty cheap, the dialogue.. Go back and listen to it.. You'd never be able to take it seriously with the more gritty tone they're going for now. They've made some smart changes in that regard.
I notice they're going for a more realistic vibe in general, and that is a smart move; they've made some solid changes to facilitate that; no more over the top matrix kung fu fights. I remain hopeful..And i'd say give it a chance, you might be surprised.
Gee I wonder what's better, creating tension through gimping player controls or making actually threatening enemies in enviroments that makes them difficult to outmaneuver.
It's not the 90's anymore. Devs don't need to use half-assed tricks to get a result.
Of course they do. They do it in this remake as well. Why do you think the enemy sway about the way they do? Why do you think the reticle system exists?
The majority of enemies in this game are Zombies. Reality of this enemy is that they're extremely stupid and extremely slow. They pose no real threat, so the developers have to create fun limitations/challenges for the player to overcome.
RE was always cheesy and over the top tbh, from ending final boss fights with an RPG to the CGI mutation cutscenes, they just expanded in scale and quantity in order to create a bigger thrill, but capcom seems to have heard what the fans have to say and agreed that bigger in scale and stakes doesn't mean it's better or more intense, which can be seen in how they designed RE7 to be a much more personal experience, even when compared to the original games, where upclose and sometimes even melee 1v1 encounters are as over the top as it gets.
You don't speak for all true fans. I'm the truest of old school RE fans. I played the original in 1996, I played 2 in 1998, I played Nemesis, Code Veronica, REmake and Zero when they released... and I refused to play RE 4 and anything after that because they weren't true RE games.
Yet I'm hyped as hell for this game. I was skeptical at first but after seeing the extensive gameplay footage that has been released I think it looks great.
That's a BIG yikes from me dawg.
