Anti aliasing sucks in this game
https://ibb.co/R3v21Jj SMAA
https://ibb.co/hHP6SWv FXAA
https://ibb.co/S6RHq2r FXAA+TAA
https://ibb.co/Jr7315W TAA

TAA is the only one that corrects the sharpness/ edges, but dims the image altogether. Hope they do something about this.

I disabled it & let my graphics card panel apply its was I wrong for doing so, the game did look alittle grainy, & I heard at a certain poit 2-4K don't even need it or was that antitropic I always get those to mixed up, well anywaysI let my nivida panel handle both, even tho I only played at 1K.

Use Reshade.

AA:TAA
Reshade Filters: FakeHDR, Clarificy, LumaSharpen.

Is that what you are using? TAA and reshade?

I might give a try when the game launches. I’ve never used reshade before.

Yeah so many games these days are relying so heavily on TAA these days, but i hate it with a pasion because it ruins the image quility and causes major ghosting. the same issues are in RD2 as soon as you turn off TAA the game is really jaggy.

SMAA looks a little better if you use mod to turn off the forced sharpening. it really bugs me why sharpening and vignette are forced in this game.

I found that if you use FXAA or SMAA an then turn the sharpness down on your monitor/tv that tends to work pretty good. Works a lot better than TAA or TAA+FXAA.

inside the police station would of been better

I think the softer look with TAA is by design in this game.

Personally I'm playing the game at 1800p + 1.50 DSR (Slightly higher resolution than 4k.), 100% Smoothness. TAA enabled & NVIDIA's FXAA enabled combined with the new sharpening filter at 60%. My TV also adds even more sharpening..

Most of the shimmering is gone, even on the fence to your left when you enter the police station. And objects still seem to have crisp edges, like the statue in the main hall.

Just use TAA and apply little bit of sharpening, or if you have beefy gpu use supersampling. TAA is pretty much everywhere now, the time of MSAA is gone long ago.

The default options do leave a lot to be desired in this game. Many modern games with deferred rendering have issues with dealing with aliasing. Traditionally, SMAA (plus transparency supersampling) would give among the best results on the PC, but it doesn't work well or at all with many such titles. Modern anti-aliasing methods (like FXAA and TAA) that were introduced that do work with such rendering often have serious drawbacks (blurring the image heavily, basically).

Using ReShade (along with FXAA + TAA on) got me results I was happy with.

Chose this spot as it gives a good representation of strengths plus weaknesses.

That little blur spot near the center bottom is what I presume to be floating dust. It leaves a trail of light, but it's minor and only happens here. Not sure if ReShade or one of the anti-aliasing methods is what's causing it.

There's a bit of shimmering in the area on the floor beyond the door too.

Overall, it's mostly sharp (not blurry) and deals with the aliasing rather well, plus fixes the game's color filtering that I didn't like.

1080p user here... with an RX580 (8Gb) my best solution is TAA with 120% image quality, still getting rock solid 72fps (my screen refresh rate) with no edges, and almost all blurrynes corrected.

How close do plebes shove their mugs to the monitor / T.V., that they're picking out jaggies so glaring that it impinges upon their gameplay experience??

Or is it just that when the game's gameplay does not look to be able to sustain it until the next shiny thing comes along to distract them from going full Hatred, these pismires put their persnickety perwigs on and proceed to pick apart every paltry pratfall a particular product has fallen prey to...?

This is a thread that ended in 2020, and the person you answered to was obviously trolling. That person might be dead for all you know. So you necroed this why, exactly?
