Would be nice if they gave him a bit more love. His original 1.5 character was more useful. But with the way things are set up this time I wonder if Leon is the only one who goes to his shop...let alone even does go there. Maybe they cut that portion out for more street exploration. Who knows.

There was some sort of a leak I read on reddit that you do reach his shop with claire only and get the shotgun there right before the police station

um that's because it's a demo people wouldn't want one of the best moments spoiled and starting on the police station pulls heart strings of some people to buy the game.they said that it's not a complete remaster and they're gonna change some things but if they change something so significant can you even call it the same game?
