No need to be a jackass, jackass. There is nothing wrong with looking up what to do if you get stuck.
If you are actually keeping up with OP, you'd know he/she owns both games as confirmed by Steam.

Such as the one that basically outs themselves as one as well as Diamond.
RE1 (RE2 and RE3 too) at the PS1 era I did without a clue of what to do and where to go, even what was the puzzle or if there was any to be solved.
Also, basically, OP is asking for things at the forum he could pretty much just walk around, grab all items to chest then check it all and see what goes along with what and where, also trying to figure out (part of the fun of solving the puzzles is thinking there is any to be solved, then thinking of what could be used where and how to use it).
Ok, ok, we help, but . . .
From your games list, you seem to have played RE3 more and RE Resistance even more, so you probably came to RE2 Remake thinking it would be the same as RE3 Remake and most things would just open for you easily, like at RE3 Remake, while up to that point you probably already had more puzzles than the entire RE3 Remake have.
Like others mentioned, you need to collect the detonator and the battery and then combine both to them take the detonator already with the battery to the C4 and explode it.
It is a C4, as it dont explode on its own, it needs a detonator.
As the detonator dont work without power, it is needed a battery for it.
Things make sense "most of the time".
Just go along with logic (or game logic when real life logic dont exactly apply) and things will make more sense.
Killing some enemies is also a puzzling thing you should pay attention to the enemy, your weapons and to texts too, as it is described at texts how to deal with enemies.
Almost all things are explained in texts you collect through the game too, but many (if not most) times not directly telling you what to do (what is also part of the puzzling).
OP, always when you dont know what to do, try checking the texts, check the key items you have at the chest and if all are marked, mean you dont have any key item left to use, so it mean you still need to collect key item(s) to use somewhere.
Always check the map for "areas in red" (meaning you stil have something to collect there) and doors you have no opened.
Pay attention to what is happening, to NPC messages/talk/texts and everything will make sense.
Always when you find a chest, drop everything you dont need anymore there and leave some 4 or 5 empty spaces so you can carry more, also try to save at least 2 or 3 spaces for key items.
Most of my class mates didn't had a computer. Maybe 1 or 2. So i used to write everything down. Or found guides in magazines.
It is more about to keep trying to solve and keep trying to look around and figure what to do.
Some parts of the game may take quite a good time to figure out, others are more obvious.
Some require you to understand some kind of "nonsensical" logic (as it is a logic that makes refference to things that dont make sense unless everything is put together or if you understand lore or story or the texts at the notes and, believe me, I did not knew english when I played the first REs, but I started learning english because of that and because of FF VII, or else everything like that would have to be done by brute force trying every item at every lock and everywhere, as many times things dont look like a lock but have shapes refference to corresponding items or refference notes, or I would just quit these PS1 REs).
That satisfaction of finding out yourself values much more than just getting the answers and moving on quickly.
It is exactly for that feeling that we try to see if the player start to figure out for himself.
We help, yes, but it is part of the game, and a good part, that he is losing by simply asking for the answer (also yes, he could have checked some video at Youtube).

(in case he dont want spoilers for all other puzzles and things and want to know just about this one)
As I also mentioned:
It is more about connecting the dots of what is what and what could be combined or used for what and where.
Things make sense most of the time and when they dont make sense easily, there are notes you can collect and figure out. The game is well made for that and dont leave you without a clue, but many times the clues are not so direct and easy to understand and follow.
