green icon in corner?

Once in a while, a green icon with a cross will show up in the bottom right corner of the screen but will go away after a while; what's this all about?

Mixed herb temp buff. Examine your herbs and read description.

If you mix red and blue herbs, when you use them it'll give a three minute long defence boost and poison immunity. The defence boost is invaluable for boss fights or tricky sections (such as Lickers). The icon is showing how long this effect is active for.

You can mix a green herb with the red+blue mix, too, and using it will restore full health in addition to giving the defence boost and poison immunity.
