Birkin G2 can go f**k himself.
Venting incoming. Bracing for 'DIS FAIT EES IZI GIT GUD' comments, but I don't get how you people do it WITHOUT flashbang spam or some stunlock cheese.

Screw his half-random ceiling claw attacks.
Screw his 500 meters long 720 degrees wide swipes.
And screw this public toilet sized arena that's so narrow that your feet can reach the opposite edges of the platform if you do a leg split on it.

I do wish I could do a Johnny Cage style split and punch Birkin in his G-virus infested balls so hard that his shoulder eye falls out.
I wish I could use it as a football and kick it so high into the air that it takes down the rescue helicopter from RE3 before Nemesis can shoot his rocket launcher at it.
I wish I could wear Mr.X's heavy boots that go STOMP STOMP STOMP and shove my foot so deep up Birkin's mutated♥♥♥♥♥that he begins to see S.T.A.R.S. members failing at RE6 quicktime events in a neverending loop.

I hate this bossfight.

I'd rather french kiss every G adult in the sewers.
Or replace my hip pouches with tambourines and march through a hallway full of lickers while playing a trumpet.
Or have Mr.X following me the entire game and spawning in my item boxes to sucker punch me every time I open it.

Yes, he's not HARD to kill. He's just a total pain in the♥♥♥♥♥to dodge, not to mention a chore to fight: HURR DURR PRESS THE BUTTON TO PUSH BOSS. Yes maybe I suck, but this is my third playthrough and I have the rest of the game figured out for a no damage playthrough on Hardcore, except for this single fight.

Venting over, apologies for taking your time, thank you for understanding.

DIS FAIT EES IZI GIT GUD, in all seriousness how I did it was I had lots of ammo in advance on hardcore and I would try to bait him into doing lunge attacks as they are easier to dodge and when hes down you then get the crane to swing into him and do that again until he dies. I died on this fight three times on hardcore until I got it but imo G1 is harder.

+1. Still cannot get No-Damage on this boss.

With Claire, it's not so bad since the SMG is good for popping eyes.

However with Leon, erm... Upgraded Matilda is the only known quick-shooter and it's a pain in the ass to keep it fed on B-runs. 45 takes too long and gets you sweeped. Shotgun is dangerous because it's close range for max damage. Magnum is good, but ammo is precious. You really gotta pick your poison and not forget to bring extra flashbangs.

Also, I've noticed an opening in his 4-hit combo. He swings twice, then stops briefly for 1 sec, then swings twice again. This could maybe be used to avoid getting cornered, but I haven't successfully pulled it off.

As for the the Roof-Claws before the fight, I listen to the sounds of his footstep and try to move randomly away from it. This part of the boss seems to read your moves, so being random will help avoid hits.

I wish I could be more helpful here, but that's all I got, sorry.

To avoid claw ceiling attacks, head to the shutters that he soon rips open, and stand just next to them (on the left of the shutters when facing them). Stood next to the wall there should keep you safe from all of the claw attacks. There may be other safe spots, but that's the one I've been using.

To speed up the claw-ceiling section you can toss a hand grenade on the floor as he attacks, and he'll instantly drop down behind the shutters to rip them off, skipping the rest of the claw attacks.

This fellow does it perfectly (skip to 34:40):

I found with Leon the flame thrower to work wonders here. Usually it'll drop him pretty fast, but he does still get to move, so you have to be careful. Avoiding him isn't hard, but making sure he's where you want him to be, without getting hit is a challenge.

As far as his claw goes, there is a container opposite the door, with a barrel on it. if you tuck in behind this container and run towards it, his claw can't hit you. You have to be careful, it's easy to wander into his claw, but you won't get hit here. Only draw back is, the area catches fire after his third attack, so you gotta move.

I figured as much, and I also follow the dust falling from the ceiling. You can also see his feet in the openings he already made. But I just can't reliably predict it no matter what. Chaotic movement never helped. At times he doesn't hit me once, at times I make it to the crane in Danger state.

Yes I thought the space near the shutter was safe because I avoided his attacks 4 or 5 attempts in a row. Then he just started reaching me there at random.

Thanks, good stuff, but that's cheese. Will use it for a speedrun if I ever decide to go for one, but atm I'm trying to figure out how to 'properly' do it.

I think OP is requesting (((D E N U V O))) to be removed.

I love this game to bits. Although I can wreck him now, this was easily the most needlessly fustrating boss ever imo.

What do you mean "stun lock cheese"? The game literally WANTS you to stun him after you activate the crane either with a flash, magnum shots, grenades or whatever you want to use -_-

I didnt know about the flashbang skip, thats good to know. But how did he push him down with one container hit? It always takes 2 times for me.

There's a few helpful tricks.

Ceiling Phase:
-There's another safe spot near the barrels next to the window
-If you have some extra ammo, shooting his claw accelerates the sequence

Box Phase:
-There's a minimum damage threshold you need to hit before you can end the fight with the crane, so shooting him enough to stun him is probably the intended solution to the fight, not cheese.
-For Leon, I just saved all the Magnum ammo found throughout the game to this point and unloaded it into his eye. You can get by in the last third of the game just fine with the flamethrower and all the gunpowder they throw at you
-Claire gets the SMG, so it's relatively much easier for her, and acid rounds are good for the guaranteed stagger if you need breathing room.

Feed him enough bullets and he will fly. There is achievement for it.

I mean I want to know how to reliably avoid his attacks. People do it and make it look easy. In my case his swipes get me 9 times out of 10.

If you do a lot of damage to him it only takes 1 crane hit.
it gets much easier when you discover that you need less containers if you shoot him a lot before. i mean, HARD mode can require 3 hits, but if you shoot him a lot, you can defeat him with less than 3.

Run circles in first room, at door when pullng off, be ready to Sprint straight through as he is opening in animation, run to crane button, dish all damage "ammo" you can on him, wait for down, push for crane, profit one hit boss.

Something like this:
https://youtu.be/-OtlcP8mYR8
If you are not close enough to him, he will try to jump on you. It is easy to avoid. To avoid swings... YOU NEED TO BE CLOSE TO HIM.
