I'm still not seeing your point. RE4 and RE6 also had 3rd person shoulders cams and yet they were almost completely different games from each other. The only thing this game has in common with RE4 is that they're both 3rd person and they both star Leon.
re0 and re1 were remade yet they kept the original fixed camera angle, so why should this remake be any different than the previous forumulas? shoulder cam belongs in re4 and above, with the esxception of 7 which is their latest game. why didnt they just use first person camera for 2? becuase they tried to make this one have elements of 4 which the zoomer generation is used to because its easier.
personally im glad the game didnt stay with the fixed camera angle, not a fan of that camera style. one of the reasons Im not a fan of the older resident evil games.

I like them both equally, and I don't think it comes down to camera angles whether something is a good RE game or not. It's the execution of the game as a whole.

This, I like all the perspectives re has taken, I like the fixed cameras, third person and first person. Its just a matter of how well done the game is.

Although I dont like the fixed camera angle perspective I understand why some hardcore classic fans may have liked that better. It would have been nice for both fca and third person to be in the game as a option for the way the player wants to play the game.

This would be nice too, an option for either first person and third person. I used a mod that makes it first person for a bit and its pretty cool.

The game does tell you where to use certain items though...
Sorry do you have an example? The only things I can think of are the power panel parts and the statue with the medallions. Both require you to have been to the location you use them at first
Keys, medallions, power parts, cranks, probably more I'm forgetting at the moment. The point is that no matter which way you look at it, it's literally handholding when the game tells you the exact location to use an item. You might like it because it removes the "tedium" but the fact is, most people will pass by these areas regardless and the map will show them where to use the item when they pick it up, so there is really no reason to explore anything to progress. Not even mentioning all the on-screen prompts to do anything in the game and the auto saving. There is quite clearly handholding going on in this game compared to the first remake.

The original doesn't show me where to use keys or items and makes me remember them for myself. Gee, how can a game expect so much from me??? 0/10 wow this is tedious.

it literally does

the spade, diamond, club, and heart doors are color-coded on the map to match their respective keys

this remake also visually shows you were items and ammo are located. in the original there was hidden ammo that you could only pick up if you investigated certain spots by pressing the action button
My guess is that it was due to some spots being obscured by camera angles. The ammo box was actually there, but it was outside the shot.

nah, there was, for instance, ammo inside vases, drawers, etc. that you could only get if you examined them. so she's right on this one.

but also, the remake only marks items on your map if you've already seen them. it doesn't just straight up tell you where all the items are.

You don't even have to see them. You just have to pass by them. It does this for key items too by the way.

Okay, sorry, the character has to have seen them. Better? The game will not, for instance, tell you there's ammo inside of a locker unless you've opened the locker first. The room will be shaded red on the map (RE1 remake did this too, by the way) if there's still something to gather, but it won't tell you what or where it is.

Yeah, is it really that big of a loss if you don't have to remember item locations? Not to me. I guess if you hold memorization in high regard as an aspect of "challenge", then I suppose it can be.
