Mods to disable mr X?
Or to change his behavior? Anyone find or create anything yet?

Here is why Mr. X. is tedious.

There is no uncertainty. For me anxiety comes from uncertainty.

Do I have enough ammo?

Can I evade?

Will they see me?

Etc. Questions that I can't not answer with certainty.

You know what question I can answer... Can i lose Mr. X? Yep I KNOW I can but the better question is: is that a fun game play experience?

I feel it is not because it involves detouring me and throttling the very progression hes supposed to be promoting or speeding up according to many people here. The first few times you run into him its pretty exhilirating but you become accustom to him very quickly and he literally becomes a nuisance. LESS is MORE. Its more meaningful for him to come in at certain times during the campaign to create truly tense moments rather then just mr big foot stomping around.

I clear most zombies and lickers because the alternatives are generally just as taxing. Having to always walk near lickers no thanks because there are some windows there that I know some zombies are going to break into that later making that "just be quiet around lickers strategy" impossible later in the game. I am gonna eliminate these threats now. I can see what the developer is doing here, cool good for them. So, Mr. X isn't going to be running me into a hall way or a path where I left enemies up because you can't evade zombies like you could in older games they are very agile now when they lunge and all the halls are cramped. In certain rooms with objects in the center and space on each side its very possible but those rooms are few and far between unfortunately.

No, I don't think people are bad or scared. I get the complaint. Mr. X lights a fire under your behind and pushes you to get through the remainder of an area quickly. People don't like being rushed. That much I get.

What I mean is, the first RE was like this, and people noticed that the mansion eventually became "safe" after most of its hazards were either cleared out or just noted so they could be easily avoided. Since the name of the game is survival horror, there shouldn't be times when the player feels safe, like the mansion has become their territory rather than a hellscape from which they must escape.

Stalkers like Mr. X and Nemesis are necessary elements in survival horror games because they are able to turn a relatively safe zone into a perpetually hazardous hostile environment. That's why he doesn't show up until you are two thirds or more of the way done with an area - his whole purpose is to prevent you from becoming comfortable. Without him, you would be able to settle in and relax, which is absolutely not supposed to happen in a survival horror situation.

Yeah, being riddled with anxiety and tension is unpleasant or even annoying if you're really not in the mood for it. But it's a survival horror game, so it would be not doing its job if it didn't do things to put you on edge and make you uncomfortable. RE2 without Mr. X is a bit like a racing game without rivals on the track - sure, you could always do the time attack, but sooner or later it's going to start feeling a bit empty. That's just how it is. If Mr. X had been a bad design choice in RE2, Nemesis would not have been brought into RE3. He solved a problem, and that's why he's here.

I'm not that good at RE, neverthless i've played the entire RPD section in Hard mode (1st run) and got away with relatively few problems. In hard mode you can just avoid him and being extremely quiet don't making any noises, if you just walk when he's not in the same room you'll be fine.

Save rooms, STARS office are the places he can't reach you, so keep in mind. Be carefull the sections where the lickers are, because if you simply walk they can't hear you but if Mr.X is chasing it's complicated.

By my experience, it's an intriguing addiction to the game, you can beat this part with relatively few problems

Tip: don't buy the RE3 remake... it won't be your kinda game, and neither is this one apparently.

Youre invulnerable for a short period of time after being attacked, by anything. Taking him out of the game takes out half of the suspense.

the only reason I didn't flashbang him when he turned up was because I wanted to shoot his hat off first, and I also wanted to test out dodging him, so I led him onto the roof and proceeded to bait punches while trying to run backwards at the same time.

It turned out I never even really needed this move because he's easy to loop and loose him. even with him on your tail you can still get stuff done by keep looping.

It's the initial anxiety people get I think from the chase and the music.

I find I don't like not being able to see a threat, so I had some issues where I always wanted to know where he was before I started moving.

I ran into him head on once when I hadn't worked out the difference between footsteps upstairs and and footsteps down stairs and got punched for it.

Only time he hit, only ammo or weapons I used on him was a singular round to knock off his hat.

I found turning the music off so that I could hear him better helped a lot as I don't have headphones.

Let's see:
You can avoid triggering him to a point where you'll see him (max) 3 times as Claire for a grand total of 5minutes of game-time if you know what you're doing. Same applies to Leon - except Mr.X makes a few extra cameo appearances and is his final boss.

When he IS present you have multiple means of dealing with him.

If he's 'tedious' for you, you triggered him early and spend too much time inefficiently handling him.
If he's a 'bullet sponge' for you, why in gods name are you even using ammo on him?

I have very, very few complaints about RE2-R and Mr.X isn't even one of them. I look forward to drinking all these tears when Nemesis shows up in RE3-R and makes Mr.X look like a snail with arthritis.

The fact that you compare Nemesis with mr x means you've missed the point entirely like 90% of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in this thread lmao.

omg if there is no MR.X in this game , this game is completely easy Just GIT GUD because this is why Resident Evil is really fun

Tedium is not difficulty. Running through the same hallways in circles over and over again and having to walk everywhere etc is not difficult its tedious and time consuming. I am glad you find that fun but if I want tedium (which sometimes I do) I play an MMO or an ARPG.

What I wanted from Tyrant was the occasional boss battle to put me on my toes and keep my ammo supply from reaching too high from time to time not an unstoppable bullet sponge who forces you to triple back every time you want to progress for a few minutes and then repeat.

Mr X isn't even close to being like this. The only section he will give you the run around is during the library puzzle. The first time playing he seems like a huge pain in the ass because you have collect a bunch of items, go to this room, unlock this puzzle, go back to another room, but you also learn when he first shows up after getting so far in the game.
You can get to point where the only thing you need collect is the last medallion when he shows up for the first time. When you get to the clock tower part he won't follow up in the room. He's very easy to avoid for a lot of game after playing through it the first time and remembering when he appears.
