I still had enough ammo left in other guns to finish him off mind, especially my sls 60 which I made sure to save all the ammo for
Claire doesn't have mag rounds, only enhanced ammo. How would one know that acid rounds do not damage the final boss? On what basis? They damage every other enemy in the game.
It's the same situation like the Combat Knife in Resident Evil 7 when doing a knife only run. You get it, but you can't use it against the final boss because it deals zero damage. Why? I don't know, you have to use the pocket knife.
I'd specifically held on to my supply of acid rounds for G4 and therefore used up my SMG ammo. I was less than pleased when I realised it was useless on him. Ran out of time trying to kill him with them before I reloaded and brought different weapons.
I tested it with 40 rounds and the minigun. No dice. They should at least stun him or something. Either that or they do little damage. The Spark Shot however does wonders.
Pretty much this. Minigun + Spark Shot, a couple of the high power pistol rounds to finish him off with 4 mins or so remaining vs totally running out of time trying to kill him with 30+ grenade rounds + minigun.
Interesting, never thought to use spark shot on a boss
For sure, at least i know it this time. But running blind on Hardcore was rough, just because of those acid rounds. The first time i fought him on Claire A he was a joke. Minigun plus the regular pistol did the job fairly well.
Yeah, i thought it was useless and more of a gimmick here, turns out it isn't. If you can resist the temptation to kill the G-Adults on your way back, store it for later and use it on the last boss. It takes around all of its Clips plus around 100 Minigun ammo.
claire's enhanced ammo for the sls60 counts as mag rounds. they one shot zombies in the head just like leon's lightning hawk. plus in the bonuses menu, the counter increases for the "kill 5 enemies with MAG rounds" achievement thing if you use the sls60 with enhanced ammo.
I personally found the smg ammo to be better than the acid rounds. they shred the bosses and your aim doesn't have to be 100 percent on point since you can just spray, plus the large ammo count means you reload less often than using the g launcher with acid rounds. also, you can find smg ammo lying around so you can stock pile a lot more, where the acid rounds can only be crafted.
thanks for the tips!
I'll try this the next time I do another run ^_^
See, i didn't know that. I thought of it as a gimmick, pretty much like the enhanced ammo in RE3.
SMG is a beast, for sure. I mainly use it to shred limbs from zombies so i don't have to kill them, but i also use them for bosses just like Leons Matilda. However this time i stockpiled Acid Rounds instead of regular ammo. Thought 25 Acid and 5 Flame + Minigun (and 80 SMG) would do the job, if not be an overkill. Guess i was wrong since it didn't do a damn thing.
Acid rounds are for plant zombies, normie zombies, earlier Birkins, and stunning G-adults so you can dodge past them. Save SMG for bosses and use acids for zombies instead.
What got me was that I could have used all those resources to craft more useful ammo or used my fire rounds to put down the ivies and therefore saved more of other ammo, but nooooope, I saved it all for G4 :(. Lesson learned.
