Tips on finishing in under 3:30:00
I know some people have beaten the game in under an hour, but I also know I'm not a pro speed runner. All I want, is to be able to beat the game fast enough to unlock the infinite ammo handgun. I thought I was doing well, pausing the game and using online tips to unlock safes and combinations, never wandering around, unsure of where to go, and grabbing stuff I would need later, before corridors got overrun and Mr X made his appearance. Yet, before I even reached NEST, I had hit 3:30. I thought if I didn't needlessly waste time, 3:30:00 would be easy enough. Now all I can aim for is the Mr Racoon, and then start again with the knife, and the advanced knowledge that will make me bite the bullet and go to the scariest places

I know the only thing that matters is time (till I aim for S+) but does anyone have any tips on how to beat Claire A, or Leon A, in under 3 hours and 30 minutes?

Bare in mind, I use a controller, so my aim is not the best, and my biggest fear is Zombies (why I got this instead of Kingdom Hearts 3? I'm so happy we finally have a real zombie resident evil game again, how could I not play? And I NEED it to do well, so I can have resident evil 3 remade)

Watch some youtube videos of people doing it.

Since you play on normal difficulty, dont waste time on trying to get the Deagle, shoot zombies that you can easily run past it, dont try to get the extra pouches that are behind lock things( since you will have enough with those just laying around).

Use only 2 knifes on first birkin fight. Fight takes about 30 seconds this way.

most important part is only pickup what is necessary and go into rooms that you need to go.

I'm playing on controller too.

I am doing Claire A and just reached Birkin 2nd fight in 1:10 on Hardcore.
Couple of tips:
-Grab the hip pouch from west office 1F as soon as possible (there is only 3 in hardcore, two on the station and one at NEST)
-Fast Loader (Leon's Desk)
-Don't forget to board the window that's in the staircase (you will be back here)
-Spade Key on 3F
-Go to the C4 room > Library > Lounge (unicorn medallion) > Library (red book) > Main Hall (Lion Medallion) > East office 2F > Art room (Weapons Lockers Key card for the G. Launcher) and solve the puzzle for the red gem
-Meeting with Leon > grab the board on your left > bolt cutter
-Be careful with this corridor, open the door slowly cause the zombie officer may be waiting for you
-East offices > grab Flash >Board the window> valve and fuse
-You could go get the G. Launcher now since it's nearby or you could skip it entirely (faster)
-Main Hall > Licker corridor > conference room > use bolt cutter>detonator
-Up to 2F and grab the battery from Wesker's desk
-Up again to 3F and use C4 (last medallion) and don't forget to use the door trick
-Library > Main Hall > 3 medallions
Good luck !

Don't forget to quit to the main menu if you die!
Loading games from the "You are dead" screen will not roll the clock back to when you saved.

@pie foot, thanks, that all sounds really helpful and as soon as I get done with my first playthrough with Claire, I'll give all this a try. Does playing on hardcore vs normal change item and enemy locations at all? (and enemy numbers)
And @hyperage how do you kill Birkin with the knife? I know you can use it as a melee weapon, as well as a defensive item, but I have literally never seen it be effective as anything but a way to break a hold, or hack up a body to make sure it stays down

And @MrBananaGrabber, sadly all the YouTube vids are extreme examples that go for far more efficiency than needed. They could be a little useful, but 9/10 times speed runners use exploits or tricks, or have skills I could never have. Though I guess if they don't do that, I could try n follow the paths they tKe (as long as they don't expect me to do things like dash down the west hallway after it gets full, and somehow not get grabbed, or land 100% headshots on birkin, cause I had to settle for fire grenades to take him down)

Skipping the Magnum/Uzi can save you a lot of time.

You can skip boarding up windows.

You can bait Mr. X to punch and then run by.

The zombies and Mr. X in the jail can be ran through but it requires you to go forward a certain distance and time a flash bang perfectly.

Skip the Handgun upgrades.

FPS knife is your friend in all of the boss fights.

All the G-adults in the sewer can be ran passed the ones laying in the water need to be shot then ran by on their little arm side.

Skip some hip pouches.

With that said I am just about to fight Birkin 2 and have 01:51 clocked. I picked up the Magnum, fully upgraded the Matilda and only went long barrel on the Shotgun. I totally forgot that the time was 03:30 and was aiming for 02:30 so thanks for that reminder I can rest a bit easier now.

I would study the sewer and all boss fights more than anything.

Wait, what? You can let him grab you, knife him rinse and repeat for an easy kill? (assuming you bring at least 2 knives).

@Mitsota101 :O damn. I had heard that and forgotten. I lost so. Much. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Time that way.

Do we know if cutscenes count against the timer? Some say yes, others say no.
PieFoot Feb 3, 2019 @ 7:35am
There is 2(?) less hip pouches and ink ribbons will spawn now, so that may throw you off at first just don't grab them (you only need 3). The key items are always in the same place regardless of difficulty.

No idea, honestly. I skiped all the cutscenes on my second playthrough. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Just watch a speedrun of people doing it, and follow what they do. You can even go ahead and collect some things that they didn't, or kill a few extra enemies e.g. lickers, because they usually complete it in like 1 hours and 30 mins.

@Thorin.Hannahs 3:30 on standard or higher is the handgun, 2:30 on hardcore is the uzi. If you beat standard in 2:30 and save no more than 3 times, you get the rocket launcher or minigun, depending on who you were playing.
Also, I am gonna have to grab the Uzi, it was a literal life saver against the doggos on the way to the orphanage, and against Birkin in the Sewers, just before the NEST.
N those G slimes ♥♥♥♥♥♥ me up. No matter what I tried, I had to kill them with fire grenades before I could progress.

i'd recommend watching a speedrun with 2x speed while you run through the game, pay attention to which routes they take.
keep in mind the timer freezes if you press ESC/Start?, so you can double check where to go now etc.

Well I will be getting the Infinite ammo Samurai Edge at least. 3 saves is no issue. I saved before the alligator and will save before Birkin 3.

The dogs can be ignored but I know it can feel like RNG at times maybe plan a flashbang use for that part.

Birkin 2 can be knifed and flash banged until you get the crane hits you need. I messed up the second crane swing because he got up and ran for me as the crane was swinging, didn't want to risk dying there so I took the grab. I should of used something to keep him stunned.

If you have to kill G-adults I would only aim to kill those that already have the Eye exposed.

In the lab you should have flashbangs for the lickers other than that particular area it is pretty smooth sailing.

Just completed my Leon standard S+ rank run with only 1 minute and 54 seconds to spare.

The licker part of the lab was the worst, I flashbanged and then killed them with a couple of magnum rounds since they had killed me once before.

Birkin 3 you knife his thigh eye then shotgun his shoulder eye and then bait him to attack to expose his back eye and shotgun that as well.

Once he goes down get behind him inbetween his arms and knife away until he gets back up.

This part of the fight you can grenade him until you run out. I only had 4 grenades so I had to use the flamethrower to finish him.

Super Tyrant mastering knifing him really helps, rotate around him while using the knife. I downed him 3 times then I went to my magnum put 7 bullets in him and a couple bursts from Matilda.

ATM launcher showed up I took a hit then killed him. I recommend 2 or 3 full heals for this fight. I had 2.

Good luck man.
