Samurai Edge any good?
I've been using this gun for most of Leon's play through but it generally still takes as many shots to take down a zombie as it did with Leon's default handgun.
Was the SE supposed to be better?
Or is it just aesthetic like the costumes?

I 'think' it's supposed to be better than the starter pistols before you get upgrades. Once you get upgrades, it's not as good.

Claire's alternate pistol (JMB?) with the laser sight has a low crit chance though.

It definitely is, up until you get all the Matilda parts, or the game decides to bring down the critical chance if you're doing too good. And I'm talking about the Wesker one. I personally could not feel any difference with the other two, other than the draw time and reticle focus.

Thanks everyone.

I didn't notice too many crits throughout Leon's story 'A'. I didn't kill that many zombies though so who knows. I spend some time using the Mathilda after I upgraded it but I didn't like shooting 3 bullets at a time though so I went back to the Samurai Edge (Wesker version).

I am on Claire's story 'B' now and I am using her small 9mm revolver.
The .45 Quickdraw pistol she gets early on suffers from the same problem I had with the Mathilda. I just don't like to waste ammo.

On another topic, I didn't know there were any weapons with unlimited ammo in this game. Even so, I'd probably pass on using them unless I was playing Hardcore.

Game is amazing so far.

Most of the infinite ammo weapons are for doing fast, low save, low healing item runs (S rank and higher) and/or S+ rank Hardcore runs (and at least the hardcore runs don't count if you use infinite ammo guns).

There's also the infinite durability combat knife of course from finding all the Mr Raccoon figures, which I hear is allowed in those runs, but can't personally confirm.

I confirm 100%, you're allowed to use unbreakable knife for S+ runs in hardcore.

Honestly, I would stick to Wesker's gun. the only drawback is the smaller magazine, but it compensates for using only one slot in your inventory.

Still, get all the Matilda parts and upgrade it to get the achievement.
