Is there a mod somewhere to make headshots do more damage?
I just got the game on sale and have played it up to the point where Mr.X has started chasing me. I tend to try and be through when I clear a room and make sure all zombies are dead so the fact you can use 10+ rounds all while making headshots has proved problematic. Frankly the number of rounds you can pump into a zombies head is downright imersion breaking. I understand that bullets can miss the brain or graze along the skull but after 5+ rounds there should not be much of a head left to shoot let alone enough to keep them moving. I have had to reload the game several times because it took to long for my headshot to crit and I used to much ammo. Even the shotgun doesnt seem to do enough damage half the time. Is there a mod somewhere that fixes this? Hell I would not care if the mod added more zombies to compensate for making them simpler to kill but the fact is once Mr.X started chasing me getting anywhere near the number of headshots I have been is going to be impossible and I am almost entirely out of ammo at this point so what few I do land are not going to cut it.

I dont understand what you want to accomplish. You dont need to kill every enemy. Do you want the game to be easier? More "realistic" in terms zombies dying by headshots? It's not like get rewarded for killing them all, arguably you get rewarded for not killing with more ammo.

It's a survival horror game. There is a reason youre running out of ammo. Just play on an lower difficulty if it's too hard.

Basically change the crit% from like 10%-15% as I have heard that is what it is to 20%-25% This should get rid of the issue of making 10+ headshots on a zombie and max them out around 4-7 making the game actually reward marksmanship without adaptive difficulty getting in the way.

I swear nobody knows how resident evil zombies work. Virus rapidly regenerates damaged tissue. It can even keep organs working for a short period while making repairs. This game is the most accurate zombies have every been in the series when compared to the lore. If anything, it should be immersion enhancing.

Okay, I clicked on this thread to find out if there was a mod or not, but I just see people jumping on the OP and ignoring the question. I'm guessing the trainer mod might be able to do this?

Anyways, I see posts like yours and think the following: I don't care how "RE lore" zombies work. I care about gameplay and I want to make the game more enjoyable for myself - that's the point of mods after all.

Personally, I think 5 pistol shots to the head should be more than sufficient to burst it. Come to think of it this is probably one of the unspoken reasons as to why RE4 is considered the best by the majority.

This isnt quite what I was looking for but it seems to be the best option. I was hoping to adjust the crit chance to fix the problem but reducing enemy health should have the effect I am looking for just the same once I dial in the right setting.

The "problem" is nowadays, just about every zombie media has zombies dying in one hit to the head, so everyone seems to always expect that
Well, zombies where always like that "1 shot in the head, or anything that can break his skull or remove his brain".
It's not "nowadays".

Do your homeworks next time.
I suggest some real Romero's movies, (he had to add a "disclaimer" at the beginnig of Land of the dead dues all the misinformation modern movies where throwing out "all the dead rise again, no matter how they died" when everyone where alredy in the "he become a zombie only if he gets bite").

Resident Evil zombies aren't normal zmbies, and have a game design logic tough.

The only time I ever saw a disclaimer being used was when Capcom released the very first Dead Rising all because it took place in a mall.

I said disclaimer, but it's more like a "it's that the right way dudes".
And i'm glad he made it.
Zombies die from a single landed headshot.
RE zombie where T virus strenghten, so it make sense they took more shots.

Just pointing out the "modern day" error.
IMO this is a legitimate gripe. I just finished the Leon run and the Claire run and the bullet sponge zombies were really my only complaint. I counted one that took 12 headshots. I remember one that got up 3 times after 15-17 bullets of which maybe 3-4 hit the body and not the head? I personally would prefer the zombies go down quicker and they just give me far less resources to work with. Just give me less ammo and less healing to compensate and I would've enjoyed it more.

Still a great game, I'm still going to do both of their B runs cause I enjoy it but I think some of these bullet sponges padded the game time without adding much else to the experience.

That would only happen under the more extreme conditions, that or you're not letting the crosshair fully shrink which adds 50% damage. Headshots only do slightly more damage anyway, the only thing worth headshotting is Tyrant.

Here is the real reason. Zombies all have predetermined fixed hp. The fat police zombie banging the vending machine has around 400hp. The one guarding the morgue door has 1190hp. That is why some zombies are so tanky and others so easy to kill. Generally their hp range between 400 to 1200.

There are some notable weak ones like the 3 zombies in Leon's jail cell before you open the circuit. They all have 1hp. The flaming zombie at the end of Claire's escape has 50hp. Every single zombie that blocks the door after Super Tyrant fight has 10hp each.

The calculation of how many head shots will always be fixed. Both Leon and Claire's base hand gun deals 150 damage with focus shots. The damage is affected by adaptive difficult. The least it will go is 70% on hardcore and and max is 180% if you screw up massively on assisted.

There's no real reason to be wasting the ammo on them though since more are scripted to spawn the moment the alarm sounds.

I killed them when doing residentevil.net Got a Quota to Keep, Killing in a Hurry and Assassin challenges. They are free kills as they register as kills. 1 handgun bullet for 1 kill towards the challenge, I take it any day :D

But then you have I think twenty or so zombies spawn and three less bullets the moment the alarm sounds... plus Mr.X regardless if you go through the horde or around it.

Since those challenges are all about killing, I actually grenade kill the horde irregardless, racking up 140 kills a run is also a fun way to play the game.
i agree it's an immersion issue. it does often feel pretty weird how many times you can shoot them in the head. i don't mind the idea of high HP zombies and i havnt had ammo issues but still it does take you out of the game a bit every time a zombie takes a bunch of focused aim headshots and still going.
