Why you call Tyrant as Mr.X?

I never played original and those PS1 RE games....but I think in RE2 Remake he is called as Tyrant....so just curious why he is called as Mr.X

I thought for sure this came from an old games magazine - EGM I think - showing the character and asking in the caption "who is this Mr. X?"

Heh...in some german game magazines he was called "Golem". Found it weird at first but its kinda fitting to him and his behavior.

It doesn't help that his skin looks distinctly clay-like.

He was called Mr X in a comic and also in 90s toys merch.

Claire runs through a bunch of nicknames in the novelization, including Mr. X, but I think that was just a nod to the fan nickname. She also calls him "Dr. Evil" at one point which, yeah, big surprise that one didn't catch on.

lol - shame I missed that one. Perry's RE books were always at the very least entertaining.

It was a guide at the time of the original's release that named him Mr.X to prevent spoilers. "Nemesis" name is not really Nemesis either, the developers never gave him such name.

For the record i totally support anyone who calls him Mr.X if its gonna save someone from getting spoiled. Even if you think the spoiler is meaningless, its still a spoiler nonetheless and spoilers suck. I also completely disagree and do not support the people recommending newcomers to play Resident Evil Zero first.

It was a promotional thing for the original RE2, and Claire also calls him that in the novelization by S.D. Perry.

As others have said, I think it's so people wouldn't confuse him with the Tyrant from RE1

Even then, didn't he have some kind of nickname? Like Barry killer (because he can totally do that if you allow it to get his revolver) Big giant naked, just something.
