Game is fun, but isn't exactly what I expected it to be. I don't see it replacing the original like REmake did with the first game, but I can see it being remembered fondly nonetheless.
The worst parts of the game are probably the Sewer enemies and Mr X. Sewer enemies are annoying and Mr X is just tedious, which isn't helped by the fact that he appears at the time when you have to take care of a very slow puzzle.
The best are overall atmosphere and visuals of course. I also love how the true final boss looks, I found it pretty funny looking in game itself, but the model in model viewer is pretty spooky
By the way, don't worry about exploring stuff. The characters explicitly mention when you are nearing the point of no return, so you can keep exploring the sewers for the time being.
I mean the "too short" or "too expensive" complaints.
The game isn't a.HD remaster and has been remade entirely, so it makes sense that the game is pricy. As for the game length, I guess that depends on how fast you do things and how much you backtrack.
Mr X was quite tedious, I never saw him as a problem, just something to make me run faster (and twice into a zombie hiding by a door) I had cleared the library as I figured I would need time for the bookshelves so I just ran in circles in the library with x in there with me, up the stairs and drown the ladder and he slowly walked after me.
He would have been a more difficult/scary enemy if he could attempt to predict movements and try to set up ambushes, though this would require extensive AI coding or he would just wait outside safe rooms and wait by the door to your next puzzle.
Finding him standing silently on the side of a door that was locked from one side and you just unlocked and walked through would make chit myself.
Maybe it's my though the older RE games scared the crap out of me at times as I would be ambushed by an off camera zombie.
The old danger music was more tension inducing too.
