So, do the zombies die at all?
Been a huge fan of the RE franchise since I can remember and never in a million years did I ever think I would have this problem: do the zombies actually die? And before you answer yes, they just take 15 bullets, let me rephrase that, I know they die, but how come they are so invincible to the point where the game becomes frustrating? I mean, I can kill Lickers no problem, so what is up with the zombies? Also, I'm playing on Normal Mode.

I don't get it either.

Odd design choice if you ask me.

I understnad zombies are supposed to be tougher because they're already the wakling dead but I don't like the idea of them being nearly invincible.

Well it's all RNG, I'd tell you not to waste pistol ammo on headshot kills and instead go for knee shots, also fully aimed shot deals more damage supposedly

Don't waste handgun bullets on them. 2-3 shots to take out a knee, if you need to kill them because it's a popular hallway, knife them a few times til the reach for the sky.

Once you get the shotgun you can go to town though.

Yeah it's stupid

Zombies are an obstacle, not a mook to murder.

As much as certain people like to whine that RE4 "ruined" the franchise by turning the series into a shooting gallery, it bears worth mentioning that RE1 and 2 (not quite sure about 3) that gave you more than enough ammo to kill every single enemy in the game and never really be wanting (as long as you made sure to actually *look* for ammo).

RE2make actually does what so many see the original games as through their rose-tinted glasses: You need to only use ammo when necessary; getting through the room is more important than destroying the enemy.

U shoot to knock down, then use knifes to dismember thats how u kill them in this one.

I'm near the end of Leon A (normal difficulty), and i never had to shoot 15 bullets to kill a zombie (was i lucky or is it 15 bullets an exageration ?).
In the worst case, i had to shoot about 7 or 9 bullets to make a zombie fall down (it was in the morgue).
Other than that, 3 to 5 bullets make them fall, then i slash them until they are dead for good.
If i don't have a knife, i shoot them is the legs 3 to 5 times and i dodge them.

It's an exaggeration.

You have to shoot them in the head, multiple times to the point where the skull is destroyed. Sometimes you get lucky and the bullet will one shot them. They also seem to go down faster if you shoot them in the head before they “wake up” on their own. I’ve finished the game on Leon’s A Story and halfway though Claire’s B Story and it’s the same, even with the B Story being slightly harder. It really comes down to “will I come this way again?” approach, if no I don’t kill everything unless I start to get cornered. If you can kite the room the map shows you all the locations of the goodies, if you leave and come back or save and reload the zombies get shuffled around, making it easier to grab stuff. This helps conserve ammo.

I never tried to slash them with the knife. Do you do this when they are on the ground? I usually just go around them because getting grabbed seems to do the same amount of damage whether they are crawling or walking. I miss the head stop from the original.

Yes, i do this only when they are on the ground after few a head shots, and if my knife have enough durability (the knife loose less durability by slashing zombies than as defence against grabbing).
If the knife is near to brake, i prefer to keep it for defence when i'm grabed by an ennemy.

And as i said, if i don't have a knife, or enough durability to finish a zombie, i just aim for the legs.
I never try to kill a zombie with ammo only, because if you don't get a critical, you are just wasting way too much ammuntions.

I like this design choice, but I think RE2 remake makes this more difficult than it ever was in the originals. In this new game, enemies are able to lunge at the player with much greater agility than in the originals. They're capable of brief running motions as they lunge at the player, something unheard of in the original game. This makes them much harder to dodge and incentivizes killing them. I know you can shoot their legs off, but they're still hard to get past in a tight corridor.

Luring the zombies into trying and grabbing at you and then dodging them doesn't seem as effective this time around. I've played RE1 remake recently, and getting past zombies was much easier in that.

yea on asst-mode i make sure they all die and still have tons of ammo left at the end, heck i can even kill all the bosses with just a handgun lol

Mine stays dead.
Only reason I see zombies all the time is because I don't board up windows. But in areas where there are not dedicated "zombie spawners".. everything remains dead.
Or.. dead-er

i see what ya did there.... dead-er (witty little thing arent ya)
