Why does Mr. X have a hat?

In the original RE2 he never had a fedora.

Is it because it's raining in this RE2 remake which it didn't in the original? Is he supposed to be some traveling salesman from the 1920s, or 30s or whatever?

Yea I saw that. I already got it. I heard that when he smashes your face into your skull he tips his hat if you don't shoot it off.

It’s so the tyrant can blend in without being noticed as much as he would without it. Despite being like 9 feet tall and built like a brick sh*thouse and having a face of wax no one will recognise him clearly.

i remember reading in a dev interview if i remember right that they added the hat to further emphasize his intended purpose for covert ops or something along those lines

When I first saw him in the original RE2 back on PS One. He reminded me of Frankenstein with the big black boots, his footsteps, and how tall he was. I wonder if they got the idea originally from that since they're both science experiments.

But yea I noticed the noir vibe in this one Ada got a noir make over too.

Maybe from a distance and from behind survivers will just see a guy ina trench coat and hat and call out to him thinking he's another surviver and then it allows him to locate and eliminate survivers.
