Lickers - how to kill em?

ok now i encountered the first licker and man I CANNOT REMEMBER him being so hard/unfair?
any tips with pistol and shotgun to kill it?

On normal with the shotgun, one hit to the brain at close range. I don't know, if they are stronger on hardcore.

Haven't played Leon's yet but with Claire just shoot a grenade at them. They die in one shot, at least in normal difficulty.

On hardcore, don't bother, save your ammo and walk around them. On ez pz mode, 360 no scope with few pistol bullets or a shotty to the brain.

In hardcore if I'm not mistaken it takes me 2-3 magnum headshots to kill one. yea.
With the shotgun I'm not even sure you can kill one in 4 shells, but maybe you can, at close range I always panic so I'm not a very reliable source for shotgun ^^

With Claire, grenade launcher. If you're lucky an incendiary can kill it in one shot. Otherwise use an acid round, a direct hit will make it writhe on the ground in pain so you can finish it with anything you like.

With Leon, best to avoid them. It can take up to 5 shotgun shells to kill a licker, though I've managed it in 2 point blank shots straight to the dome before.

Alternative for either: Door cheese. Lickers can't enter doors, and seem to forget about you the moment you leave the room. So you can keep popping out and giving them one or two shots.

They are the easiest monsters to avoid, just walk and save your bullets.

Grenades do a number on them. So does three magnum bullets to the head, at least on Hardcore.

Most of the time outside of the 4th Survivor and Tofu Survivor modes though, it's best to just avoid or sneak past them. Even that one Licker that drops down to startle you in the Lab section can be ran past before it can do anything, at which point it'll simply go away and chill in the main area.

I think they're kinda cute, to be honest. Chilling on their own on a ceiling somewhere, not really doing much, chittering to themselves, getting concerned and upset if you make too much noise. Cuteness.

Imagine a tiny one about the size of a bat. That'd be a neat pet, keep it in a little tank, etc.

Incidentally, did you know they have an aanus? I examined the Licker model thoroughly, and was suprised at such a discovery, indeed! Now the real question is does it shrink when it gets cold?

i killed everysingle one i encountered on leons A normal mode 1-2 headshots with the shotgun point blank kills them
