Can't change back from assist mode.
Ok, so I died a couple of times on the giant aligator in the sewer, because i was franticly trying to respawn, i accidently chose to switch to assist mode. Now zombies legs fly off in one hit, as far as im aware theres no way to change back to standard mode? why? its easy enough to change to easy mode, but to hard to change back to standard? any work arounds in the files?

You can't. And they give you fair warning you can't change back. You're either going to have to restart or carry on playing in baby mode.

No, you cant switch back. Its been a fetaure of Capcom difficulty changes since Devil May Cry 1 well over a decade ago.

Its to stop you playing in Standard, dropping down to Assist for a boss fight and then jumping back Standard mode again. I got that message on the croc too as kept messing up the sequence, which is a bit ridiculous seeing as its an insta-kill QTE....so no, Capcom, making it so zombies die faster wouldnt have helped me!

I literally had the exact same thing happen tonight I double clicked and it swapped to assist mode before the text even finished loading, pretty poor design.

More like pretty poor reading skills.

Or you know, I was enjoying the game and wanted to get back in and play quickly. After 8 hours of play, randomly seeing an extra window open and close upon hitting continue before the text even showed up, I didn't even realize what happened until I saved one room later. It's a minor annoyance in an otherwise great game, but an annoyance none the less.

I'll definitly be more careful from now on knowing this is a thing, but no previous RE game ever offered me to lower the difficulty when dying twice.

100% not a fair warning. I managed to avoid doing this, but it would be very easy to be tapping a key to just continue like normal and then this comes up. It should default to 'No' to switch to assist mode but in a piece of absolutely horrible design, it starts on 'Yes'.

It's on par with that bloody tutorial owl from Ocarina of Time for Yes/No design choices.

Mine started on "No" but i was playing with a controller, so maybe your mouse was aiming close to yes?

Just load an old save. It
reverted back to normal.

And I'll keep on bumping on it too as it's still an issue.
