Bolt cutters/cutting tool discard

Is it okay to discard these when the box is checked on the item?
The only doors I've cut chains on have been on the ground (US first) floor; I was sure I saw chains elsewhere?
Can I discard these or are there "bonus rooms" I can cut into even after the game says I can toss them?

yes. with the tick, you can discard

if an item has a checkmark on it you dont need it for anything else and can safely discard it

if an item has a checkmark on them then you can discard them, they are useless

Good to know. I know the tutorial said I was fine, but I tossed them any way (had dodged the zombies in the corridor on the way to the storage room past the operations room with the heart door and the bolt that locks it from one side), was under a lot of pressure to leave and there were items to pick up so seeing the checkbox I tossed them and moved to the darkroom.
I'll have to go back and see what the "electronic gadget" is. Missed it on my first sweep of the room.

You know it tells you in game as soon as you fully use an item a pop up appears explaining the entire check marks and discard system. Don't know how people missed that or just skipped it.

Make it a habbit of checking new items. They will often have incredibly generic descriptions until you give them a once over.

It took me a while to figure this one out, so glad I found this.
