Thats because your not supposed to go that way.

There is a key where you meet the first zombie, you have to shoot him and get the key.

The key is behind where you meet the first zombie. You need to shoot that zombie, then walk around him. Then get the key.

then go back the way, but don't go through the door, there is another route and another door.
