I tried it, don't work. But i found a custom patch that fixed it.
Do you mind sharing where you found the patch?
The custom patch made my game crash so i found another work around, i lowered my resolution from 1680x1050 to 1600x900 and its full screen no black borders and it doesn't look stretched like it did with the patch, try it and tell me if it works out for you.
Its a 8 year old one, i know its for an upgrade but i recently bought a new pc so its not possible at the moment, i only know its Asus and thats all.
How borderless windowed did it for you? If that was the case, then a patch that fixes the .exe of the game would not even exist. It does not work anymore, but it used to. Borderless or FullScreen on games without 16:10 aspect ratio will always present black bars.
