Final fight with insufficient ammo?
I'm on the final fight of my first playthrough (Leon's campaign) with no ammo (because I gave up getting the flamethrower as the game checkpointed me 1 hour back a few times, so I end up wasting a lot of useful ammo with common zombies) and now it seems like I'm stuck.

Tried my best to deal as much damage as I can with what I have, but it's just not sufficient to get his HP down to 50% so the rocket launcher cutscene triggers (and that's what guides over the internet quote I should do). Any ideas?

P.S: Kai was the first to provide the right answer, but I picked Benneth's as the highlighted one because it's shorter and faster for other people searching for help with this same situation.

Sounds like you might be a bit SoL there my friend.
You are meant to be saving your good ammo for boss fights.

Yeah. Point is I do have a lot of flamethrower ammo, but I died several times after getting the flamethrower and got angry with checkpoints, so I gave up.

Yeah... Point is I do have a lot of flamethrower ammo, but I got killed several times after trying to get the flamethrower and the game would checkpoint me like 1 hour back, so I eventually forgave getting it. Sounds like I'm hardbricked now.
Were you only using the auto saves? I usually make a save every other time I see a type writer ina different slot, so I can go back if I need to.

Nope, also using typewriters, but it was quite a long travel because of the chess pieces. Anyway, yes, I sadly didn't create other save slots.

If you have any flashbangs and grenades that's all you need. You need to wait until he starts doing his charge attack and throw one to stun him. After 3 or 4 times the fight is basically over.

You are meant to survive as long as possible in the last section of the game with the evolved Tyrant, by waiting for the rocket launcher to fall.
You CANNOT, and I mean CANNOT kill this enemy with any weapons normally.

CAPCOM is playing you all with this game, making you think you can 'kill' bosses like MR X and his final form.

I know it's not possible to kill him with regular weapons, but I read you need to decrease his HP to 50% for the rocket launcher to fall. Isn't that how it works?

Really? on the final fight when the game was only released 13 hours ago. Looks like i'm glad i didnt have to pay for it if it can be played through that quickly.

By the way, there's no typewriter in this room, so I could load the typewriter save. I would lose playtime considering I didn't save after defeating G, but it's still an option.

That's the final fight for the first playthrough. There's one more playthrough for the final ending, then there's Claire's playthrough, HUNK & TOFU's playthrough, and the bonus Ghost mode content, plus the collectibles for each playthrough.

It's VERY weird that the developers didn't think this could happen though (and didn't add a way to go back to search for ammo or a way to use the environment against the boss). I mean, are they serious I need to lose an entire save file because I don't have enough ammo for the final boss? -_-
Happens in RE games. Had to go back through the game because I wasted ammo in Code Veronica and 4. Look at it this way. If you picked anything up it will be the nominal looting pattern and how to progress the smoothest through the level to make your way back there easier.

I saved up all my magnum ammo for the end fights on my Leon A playthrough. Ended up unloading 20 mag rounds into Evolved Tyrant before the rocket launcher dropped. Guy takes a licking and keeps on ticking.

His answer is a bit hasty by assuming I'm expecting to kill the boss with regular weapons but turns out he's right, and it's not needed to decrease his HP to 50% for the rocket launcher (although most guides say it is). It's all about staying alive apparently. Managed to stay alive for some time, and made it to the end.

I'm pretty sure in the original it would drop a good minute or so sooner if you got him low enough hp, not sure if it is the same in the remake.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.
