The game does not launch on windows 10, just like Resident Evil 7 - WTF CAPCOM
I purchased Resident Evil 7 in October, and i had issues with the game not launching. It would just launch into a windowed blackscreen, and close down. Many people seemed to have the same issues.

When i just tried to launch Resident Evil 2 for the first time the same thing happened! This has to be a Capcom issue. I'm extremy upset right now... Why is this happening? I had no issue with the demo.

My game was crashing on startup with a black window. I looked in the Windows Event Viewer and RE2 was crashing due to a file called "nahimicv3devprops2.dll" in my case. I opened my Task Manager and ended all the tasks with "Nahimic" in their name and the game started up just fine.

Apparantly the file is associated with the programs Sonic Studio and Sonic Radar which are associated with ASUS motherboards. I unistalled both those programs just in case since I use an external DAC anyways and not onboard audio.

Moral of the story: ending the tasks and getting rid of anything with "Nahimic" in the name fixed the game.

Based on the description provided, it appears the Sonic app is injecting itself into the audio stream or hooking into the audio driver to sniff out sound stage in order to identify the source and direction of the sound (i.e., enemy footsteps).

my game loads after the long black screen, but after that in menu it seems like my gamepad keeps scrolling the menu, does anybody know what to do with that?

I had this problem, tried all the usual fixes. Turns out there was a Win 10 update that needed to install. After that all good.

For those who have Windows 10 Pro N and have the problem like me, windowed black screen and then closes, i fixed by putting two files MFPlat.dll and MFReadWrite.dll in System32 folder. Hope this help you.

Thanks! Now the game loads, but still breaks as soon as the first cutscene starts :lunar2019deadpanpig:

I had the same black screen issue till I update below patches for my Win 10 Pro today

- Feature update to Windows 10, version 1809
- Security Update for Adobe Flash Player: February 12, 2019
- February 12, 2019—KB4483452 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.7.2 for Windows 10, version 1809 and Windows Server 2019
- Update for Adobe Flash Player: October 9, 2018

I haven't looked into what exactly feature has been updated in version 1809 but if you still have the same issue and you're on Win 10 (Pro). You may want to update the Windows and see if it works.

One change I noticed after this update is I can no longer change the volume of the game by the hotkey on my Corsair K70. While the hotkey works fine in other games. Obviously it's not a big deal compared to the back screen issue, but still annoying. Let me know if you have the same issue.

Wish you guys have fun!

Do you have the programme Riva Tuner Statistics running? Because some of my games will crash (including RE: 2) unless I turn it off.

im having the same issue, as soon as i click on the client it just goes black and closes without any messages. i have an i7 2700k with 1070 gpu and 8gb of ram. i was running it fine before but suddenly i cant anymore

IT WORKED Ok guys i was having the exact same problems as u guys. Every time i open the game and click on the client it freezes, then it turns black and crashes without any message. yes i did try and see the "nahmic" or whatever its called but i didn't have it running on my task manager so i was giving up. However, i started to fiddle around with the anti virus and firewall.
First i tried my home anti virus which did nothing. Then i went on windows defender, i allowed RE2 on "private" (originally it was checked for both private and public so i turned public off). Basically, i was messing around the settings of firewall and when i turned off firewall i opened RE2 expecting a crash as soon as i click on the client but the game didn't crash. I then just quickly changed the settings because oddly it was on "red" which is when the game is turned up too high and can cause crashes and changed it all to "low" for now. But yeah that's how my one worked. Its not gonna fix for a lot of people but i don't know why it worked. P.S ignore my grammar mistakes lol

Does the game have any log or dump file?
EZGGWP Feb 14, 2019 @ 6:49am
Hey there guys. I have a black screen and game crashes after that. As I can see, it is a common problem. I haven't fixed it yet, but I came somewhere close.

I'll start with my config:

Motherboard: MSI X299 SLI PLUS
Graphics Card: MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X
CPU: Intel Core i7 7800X 4.1GHz
RAM: 16Gb Kingston HyperX Fury 8/2 2400MHz
OS: Win10 Pro 64bit build 1809

Seems like a problem is a software conflict. I tried turning off all Services except those who can not be turned off. I tried removing the Nvidia driver. The only solution I found is to boot in Safe Mode and then the game works fine. The only problem is that Safe Mode doesn't have any video drivers to play well, so I can not call it a final solution. I deleted basically every useless software I had and it didn't work either. I think I will continue to search for the solution, but I'm kinda tired of all that so that may happen after a while. But if you can try to find that conflicting app/service/driver, please, share it here. Thanks.

Well, I just found a solution for me. If you doesn't have any Asus sound software and you tried every 'solution' you've found and it didn't work, maybe this one will work. I booted into BIOS and found Intel Virtualization Tecnology in CPU Features and turned it off. After that the game started without any problems. The name of that feature may differ if you have a motherboard from a different brand, but you should look for something like this:
Intel Virtualization Technology
IVT
AMD-V - if you have and AMD processor

Those are not all names of that feature, so you can google, how to turn off Virtualization in your motherboard's BIOS.
Hope it will help.
