This is really a complex topic. I remember Condemned from Sega. This is a first person survival shooter. And I heard RE7 did a same great job. I will definitly play 7 when I have the time.
I played many first person shooters, and maybe I´m too good in that to feel this as a survival horror even if it is. Same for Gears Of War. RE6 had all those creatures ect. it was like a darker GoW to me, so I didn´t feel the horror. But I read some amazon reviews, where some people felt scared about some scenes.
I´m working with several 3D softwares and there is always to learn more about it. But I agree, there are many tricks and effects to generate a special atmosphere or situation. It´s amazing what you can do with all those new technologies even with a smaller team. But that doesn´t mean everything needs to be created as FPS or TPS. TPS with OTS-view is most popular right now. You could make a creative car survival-horror game if you really want to. But I think every cam-style changes the feeling of the atmosphere. First person might be very scary but in another way then the fixed cameras. With all those amount of FPS and TPS, it would not necessary to change that for RE franchise. And that´s what makes me think, it´s for the newer generation and sell it to a bigger audience.
I appreciate you like my suggestion of the Outbreak camera. I would say this is the modern evolution of the old fixed cameras. Of course you can´t do it completley fixed, this was technical limitation, no doubt. But Outbreak did a very good job. They had moving cameras mixed with fixed cameras and this was a perfect solution, pity it was completley dismissed. Especially with the new technology you can play a lot around with those camera angles. And they updated the modern Outbreak controls to the RE0/1 HD remaster, which made the controls a lot easier also for beginners. But this will not change anymore, instead in 10 years will be a new remake cause the trend moves back to the cinematic cameras, lol. Or all get a remake as VR which dismiss the rest of the other cameras, lol.
Indeed. And I brought the Outbreak (and other PS2 games) example many times as for how they actually evolved and handled the camera angles system. Too bad the series is now stuck with the generic OTS camera since 2005, yet there's still people talking about evolution and not getting stuck in the past...
Not happening, they wanna use the full "potential" of RE engine by doing that shtty face scan photogrammetry thing they did with RE7 so yep thats it, forget about the classic Claire & Leon get used to those new actors remodels w/e LOL i cant imagine the rage when Jill Valentine gets her remodel & new face in upcoming RE games, if people raged with Chris Redfield remodel they gonna !"#!%@ when waifu Valentine is no more.
Of course getting Julia Voth as model to rework Valentine character, well thats the right call but they gonna !"#% it for sure thats what capcom always do.
Leon looks like the portrait from item menu, at least:

Claire looks nothing like any of the previous iterations of the character, but at least she doesn't look like Degeneration or Revelations... Still, I'd prefer they used an actress with a different face than what we ended up with. Babyface.
good one
ROFLMAO.
Omigawd, what a thread. Wholly agree that there are a lot of beautiful women in real life that beat the tar out of most starlets and models, and many of those famous people do look fake as heck.
I think they need to get better actor scans for the zombies. Some of them look way too young for this R rated game. Sure, some of them look way, WAY too old too. Not fair to the senior citizens.
In all fairness to RedFogSX, though I did see that little centimeter wide scar under Claire's lips, in the cleft of her chin. Wait, that's Claire? God she looks good. Way too much Lip Balm Sheen, but she looks good. Those lips don't look enhanced via surgery to me, and I prefer the thinner lips. But she looked different in RE Rev 2. Hunh. Might just be you need some Lasic surgery, instead -- just joking, I hope.
I like the crazy look of RE4's Leon, but let's face it, he acts like a rube. Actually, I'd prefer if they made Leon like about 40, that way I can identify better with him. Skip that, nobody in their right mind can identify with him after some of the dialog in RE4, and that's some of the better RE series dialog until RE Rev 2. Gosh the RE writers really do mail it in.
If they actually sell any of these for $59, then I guess they can afford the re-scans.
If not, get some good looking 40 year olds to help make it look authentic. They don't look like they'd be still on their cell phones during the apocalypse, so they might actually survive.
So is this a Remaster or what? Doesn't really say and it sure looks better than I'd imagine a game that old should for characters. I'm guessing the scenery will look terrible compared if this is just a remaster.
It's a remake.
It's a remake.
How many times does this need to be said lol. All you have to do is look at one screenshot for half a second to see it isn't a remaster.

soo Compared tho the ORIGINAL
the remake models look WAY WAY better xD
Okay maybe I was a bit overracting, cause I see more and more games bring this surgery look into the game-world. I think the surgery look should stay in the erotic industry. It can´t be, a designer can create a more natural good looking woman then a 3D scan. If I had a daughter I would not like her influted by that.
But this actress do not even look close to Claire. Her upper lip is too big. As I said before, if this would be a new RE with new storyline, it would not bother the fans so much.
Hollywood is so big, the earth is even bigger. Can´t they find 2 perons in this world look a bit more near to the original. Come with me to my supermarket, I can show you in between 1 day maybe 3 young females has the potential to be a better Claire Redfield.
Just because they had no normal and bump maps. It´s easy to upgrade this without changing their appearance too much. There is also still this japanese anime style inside.
But look at RE6 or the Degen movie. He has his look. This totally changed now.
And don´t tell me he was younger in RE2. That doesn´t explain a double chin and diffrent eye positions :D.

I can understand this, if the actor is too old to play the role.
Like the Miami Vice movie remake. They needed younger actors fit for the characters.
But ARRGH, this is a game, you can give them any look. There is no reason to change Leon from RE6 to RE2remake so dramaticly. What do you want to do if the voice actor is black?
Then we have a black Leon S. Kennedy. Nothing against black now, I´m a very big Blade fan and would be also angry if they would make a white Blade tomorrow. But you do not change an existing hero the fans love. Then create new characters.
What the hell were they thinking ? First RE6 failure, then unnecessary RE7 reboot with inappropriate name, now this. Not surprising from people who disbanded pre-PlatinumGames "Team Little Devils" for DMC2, then replaced current DMC5 director who made excellent 3 and 4 with "DmC" reboot douchebag-creators. And they have buried MegaMan. CapCom is the most clueless about its own genius developers Japanese game company after Konami.
Yes this and the video-sequences-version are good references to create a high-res character.
And before we´re starting a discussion about the pixelation, no normal maps and how outdated the old RE2 is...
That´s a small impression how it could look modernized if doing it correctly. For a fan mod this is very impressive. i would really like to buy that version. Of course the animation and some small details needs to be updated. On UE4 it would even look better ;)
