Is it still possible to buy the original?

There's probably a HD remaster for the original on steam, but I wanna know if I can still get the original RE:2 with no enhancements to the graphics. I just want a good nostalgic gameplay of it.

I've tried doing that emulator, I chose "Run ISO" on the RE2 game I downloaded for the emulator, the intro and stuff works, but when I get to what I believe is the main menu, I dunno what keys to press, I pressed the down arrow, and then it just skipped to a crazy fast cutscene of Leon pushing the statues to line up with the middle statue and then it started the intro again.

Not entirely true. I can not play most of my ps1 games on the ps4, that includes the original trilogy. Be nicer if could have a 'remaster' of the original 3 so we can play them as they were originally intended.

You could run PS1 games on PS2, or GC games on Wii, thanks to backward compatibility (a nice feature lost in the past I guess, since for companies it's more profitable to make people re-buy the same games they already own each time a new platform comes out). But RE2 was never actually released on PS2. It was on PS1, PC, Dreamcast, N64 and GC.

Hey OP, if you're able to find the Sourcenext PC version of Resident Evil 2, then there's a great mod for it that makes it run properly on modern hardware, in high resolutions, with controller support and the best looking FMVs which you can find here:

Be warned that you can only really find RE2 by Sourcenext through, shall we say, "alternative" methods.

i personally prefer the N64 version of RE2, but thats only because it also has a randomizer included in it that mixes up all the weapon, ammo and healing items, probably the first of its kind really.

i bought it on PSN under the psone classics titles, installed it on my PsVita and now i play classic RE2 everywhere <3

Don't forget to play actual sequel to RE2 - RE: Code Veronica X. It works extremely well on PCSX2 even when played in crappy laptops, probably because it is DreamCast port and DC wasn't as powerfull as PS2. It has 3D backgrounds, but it still looks fine.

For me only one that aged badly is original RE1, I could play 2 and 3 all the time, but it isn't as fun when you know all item placements and puzzles.
