Can't play game till I decide between Remake or Original soundtrack... Help!
Long story short I can't make myself play through a game unless I know I'm getting the BEST first experience the game has to offer. For example: I adjust all graphic settings to max, I adjust the brightness and colors till they match the developers intention, I adjust surround sound, etc. The one setting I can't decide on is the soundtrack; Remake or Original?

I managed to overcome some of my OCD by playing through the intro with the Original soundtrack before doing the intro again with the Remake soundtrack... I still can't decide.

I know this is petty, but I can't play the game till I know I'm choosing the best soundtrack. Help?

If you want to play the game as the developer intended you should go with the Remake soundtrack. The Original soundtrack is a bonus for people who played the old game. At least that`s how I see it.

The original is seriously better except for the mr. x soundtrack.

The original makes the game creepier depressing and more atmospheric and it really portrays that this is a police station with nearly everyone either dead or trying to kill you.

Only people drunk on Nostalgia think the PS1 soundtrack is better for this version of the game.

Soundtrack design isn't just about sounding good; it's about tone and audio/visual synchronicity.

Needless to say, RE2R is vastly different from RE2C in both those respects. The classic soundtrack clashes terribly the vast majority of the time. The other times it's ok at best. The only time it ever remotely approaches "good" is the very last rooms of the game.

Also, Hunk's Theme:

The official song of being late and completely out of ♥♥♥♥♥ to give. (Which when you paly Hunk's mode, makes for a perfect example of Audio/Visual Synchronicity!)

Yes, that's why it's the version I linked?

It's overly dramatic, which fit with the original's brightly colored environments, melodrama and flamboyant acting. Less so in the slightly more grounded remake.

I really appreciate the input guys. Both sides have good points. I'll just have to suck it up and make a decision. Sounds like I can't go wrong either way.

I found that the original soundtrack made the experience more scary/tense.
Though i did not regret playng with the remake sound track first, as the original sound track gives a good replay value.

Thanks! Glad to hear from someone who did a play through with both. I understand what the other fella means when he says the new music is in synchronicity, but through the demo I felt the original increased the suspense. Besides, there is something about that classic music and menu sounds that make things scarier.

I think I'm just gonna go with the OST.

Thank you all and to all a good night! ;)

While I'm an avid fan of the original RE2. I prefer the Remake soundtrack. I like how it's more subtle. That's my two cents.

I've never played the original game, but the remake soundtrack is bad. Composers these days have no sense for melody. The new music is so tuneless and boring. Every time I tried the new soundtrack, I quickly switched back to the much better original.
