Reentry Alpha Testing - Update Log
Below you can find the patch notes for the alpha-floor branch. The updates in order from newest to oldest.

What is the alpha-floor branch?
The alpha-floor branch is a special branch dedicated to those who wish to help testing the latest bits from Reentry. The builds will be unstable and you will experience crashes and unfinished bits (logic, missions, game modes etc.)

How do I access the alpha-floor branch?
To switch from the public default release branch to the alpha-floor branch you need to right click Reentry - An Orbital Simulator in Steam and select Properties. On the BETAS tab, select the alpha-floor branch from the dropdown. The game will now switch to the alpha builds and is indicated by an update.

I saw an alpha floor update without patch notes?
This usually indicates a live debugging session with someone reporting a bug. Multiple alpha-floor builds might roll out to test and debug issues players are having. You can look away from these, they will usually result in a new alpha floor build or release with a fix and a note for the issue resolved.

How do I revert back to the normal public release builds?
From the same BETAS tab menu in the game properties, select the default branch again. The game will switch to the latest release build. This is indicated by an update.

What is the current alpha-testing about?
The current alpha testing is all about the 0.9 bits where cloud saves, languages and game mechanics in-general are in focus.

Alpha-testing sessions and discussions are taking place in the dedicated #alpha-floor channel over at Discord. Feel free to join us! http://discord.gg/reentrygame

  • Added one of the two LM TELMU/ECS channels (ch 35) to monitor and debug the LM ECS

The below steps are used to try different methods to improve the stability on MOCR sessions
  • Reduced data transactions: A session will send much less data pr. second (70% less), so changing TV channels etc migh take 1-3 seconds etc. All data is also sent as Unreliable instead of Reliable, so it wont try to resend everything until all clients has ack. that they have received the data like before.
  • I have added server selection dropdown that lets to select where you want to create the server, or where you wish to connect when in MOCR.
  • A new Connect button has been added next to the dropdown in the MOCR room. This button also works as a "RECONNECT" so hopefully you wont have to go back to the main menu again to reconnect to sessions.
  • The reconnect button has also been made functional.
  • The TV channel changes are not buffered any more, as is just a test to check what implications a large buffer has as it gows in long MOCR sessions. However, this means that when someone joins the room, this person will only see the TV channels and Projector settings that happens after joining. The only place this can be an issue is on the projectors, so a refresh might be needed as players join.

0.8308.alpha patch notes (October 12, 2021)
  • Added a public issues tracker: https://trello.com/b/PHdetNmC/public-issue-tracker
  • Main Feature: CSM ECS
Note: It is the first of many iterations of the ECS, and the intention of this first release of it is to get some of the procedures in place, the major features, and see how it all works together. As you can imagine, a lot of things function together here and needs to become solid both during normal operation, and while time scaling. Once stable, I will iterate and go deeper in more specific areas of it.

A word about the PTC roll (aka "BBQ roll"): The radiators will be affected by its orientation relative to the sun and a planet. An ECS radiator that is exposed to the sun will receive heating from it, while a radiator that is "looking" into deep space will be cooled. Some of this logic has been applied to systems too. However, since I have yet to implement the PTC-roll features the sun will not be able to fry equipment that is exposed to the "sun" over long durations. A PTC-roll could be done manually by orienting the spacecraft and applying a slow roll so that a specific side of the CSM is not exposed to the sun for too long.

  • Main Feature: CSM IMU Gyro Drift, correct it with P52, opt. 3
  • Updated the Reentry Apollo CSM Flight Manual with an ECS chapter: https://reentrygame.com/manuals
  • Added 4 new CSM Academy lessons about the ECS
  • Added multiple new CSM checklists for the CSM ECS
  • Added options to main menu to disable gyro drift and to automatically change the CO2 absorbers
  • Blocking issue: Fixed so the CSM Fuel Cells wont automatically die after about 160 hours MET (cabin blackout)
  • Blocking issue: One of the bigger fixes this upgrade has is the rewrite of the RCS logic and physics. Previously, the RCS and LV gimbal systems has made it impossible for some to reach orbit, or use the RCS due to it being overpowered. This was due to an issue with the attitude control physics implementation. Most players on either powerful PCs or PCs below the minimum requirements especially saw this issue, but it has been present for all.
  • Added the CSM panels: 600, 601, 602, forward hatch
  • Added the covered CO2 Absorber panel (350). Open the cover in the LEB to see and operate it. A C button circular action has been added for absorber A and B to replace them. Should be done every 12 hours
  • Made timescale stop when Master Alarm is triggered in the CSM
  • Corrected the COAS target to better reflect its true look, and now have reference degrees
  • Corrected the Caution & Warning system labels, text (visual) and look
  • The Lunar Module Master Alarm logic: continuous signal tone and light (should not flash as the CSM), relay changes to silence the tone and reset the MA light when pressed
  • Lunar Module manual and TTCA thrust command logic changed. MAN thrust can increase and decrease thrust, while TTCA during auto command can only increase thrust (abort)
  • Removed the old Gemini scenarios and added new for rendezvous and docking training, both from pad, or close to the burn/docking
  • Added a mission settings summary screen for the loading screen, showing various mission parameters
  • EMS changes to fix issues around SCS burns and SCS burn setup. Also counting and direction issues has been solved (see Public Issues Board)
  • THRUST ON button fixes to not "store" the press to avoid it to auto-trigger a burn if pressed before the systems are configured
  • The CSM ECS CRYO TAB channel used by the EECOM station has been updated to monitor the details of the CSM ECS
  • Opening a checklist will reset the scroll position to the top, so it no longer starts in the same position as the previous checklist you did
  • Gemini SFX on load in orbit fixes. You should not hear all the ascent SFX played at once when loading a Gemini mission
  • Fuel gurgle sfx in Gemini
  • With the new Gemini Jet Physics: Gemini RCS thruster and Roll Program/ascent guidance power and inconsistency fixed
  • A new OBC checklist has also been added to list the OBC cores. Remember that the computer will need to run for it to function
  • Gemini: Timescale should not influence the radar anymore
  • Gemini: External fire light should not illuminate artifacts in the cockpit interior
  • Gemini: Sun Visibility Check in cockpit view (corrects dark side of the Earth visibility)
  • Gemini: PULSE mode is more stable and triggers correctly each time you press instead of being inconsistent
  • Lunar Module: Possible to use the TTCA to decrease throttle in automatic mode. It should only be possible to increase throttle manually when in TTCA and auto mode
  • Lunar Module: Prevents the LM descent engine to be throttled below 10%. Changes in thrusting mechanisms too
  • Lunar Module: LM Ascent Engine can be started with He regulators closed. Reworked some of the He circuit logic in the Descent and Ascent engines. The He from the DES and ASC sources meets and goes through the primary/secondary regulators. Only one needs to be active for it to be properly pressurized
  • Minor Mercury mission and system fixes by watching N9 Gaming videos on YT
