5 years later and a city and police force of humans and aliens is easily believable as most of humanity were already pro-alien and used to having them around. Even after the war when racial tensions would have escalated and pockets of alien and human terrorists both would have formed, it's not a stretch at all if people actually paid attention.
Honestly I hope XCOM 3 expands on this further, whatever Elder/worse threat shows up to threaten earth, have the humans and aliens have to work together to defend everything they had built together.
*Somewhat*(meaning not fully), 1/2 alien Skirmishers were in it (Canon and were characters and discriminated against as should for story and accuracy).
Not to mention he doesn't say Story says *Squad Mates* and therefore having alien Squad Mates even if added by mod are ..... still Squad Mates 0_0 even more so since entire squad of previous games were not characters but made up in players imagination (minus the Introduction of 1 reaper+skirmisher (poor templar doesn't even get 1 :( )) .
I think that is more sense that human and alien work together for some reason:
1) that Aark say into the earth maybe exist a lot people that are pro-alien, yes that when they saw the broadcast they get very angry and I think that next some time they will give a second chance.
2) next the defeat of elder the Advent fight each other and the not sentient alien make chaos on the city. Some sentient alien help the people for survive to this chaos (see the muton of this game) or lost the will to fight.
3) I think the most important thing: Verge, I think that he is the key about the collaboration between the human and alien, because he was the first alien that helped the humanity (I hope that will explain more into the game)
ah this is the my theory
I see a lot of people like the whole aliens being friendly and I also get a mass effect vibe (a game I really enjoy) but I honestly dont think it fits XCOM.
Going to try the game but it really needs to win me over. Here to hoping this is just a silly spin off and XCOM 3 wont have friendly alien fixed squad mates (dont mind friendly aliens being a feature but make it a choice so one can chose NOT to ally with those monsters).
Gameplay wise it offers new options on tactical front, like vipers can snake into air vents, Mutons can redesign interiors... cool stuff.
You can always introduce more alliens, more hybrid, or like real mutans/cyborgs creating new enemies with even more tentacles to grasp.
If you expand storytelling having real alliens makes rich background, with muton workers union mutiny demanding equal pay for equal job, or in game racist scanding "ET go home" or complaining about viper nurses stealing our jobs.
I hope that Chimera does not cancels XCOM3: Hostile Territory.
